One Knife Only

There was a time when I would have answered, "Vic or Wenger Soldier" But now I think I'd have to say a good carbon steel stockman. This is of course for a civilized EDC, survival issues would warrant a fixed blade of course.

Well, it looks like I'm the first one to split this into two choices:

Fixed...Camillus CUDA CQB-1.
Folder..Benchmade 805.

Dann, you cheated; pick one. ;)

For me; it would be my Left Handed wood inlay small Sebenza.

I don't use it now because I have a small regular, but if I could only have one the look is great and the extra thickness is nice.

Full sized Microtech SOCOM

For a folder, I'm with Kamkazmoto. A full size SOCOM pretty much covers all my needs from utility to SD. It's 4.05" blade is just about perfect.

For a fixed blade, my gut says REKAT Hobbit Warrior though it is limited in it's versatility and utility. I don't think splitting wood using a batoning method would really work. With all those teeth, I'd need more batons that would be considered practical. :p

8 inch (bladelenght) sami knife from Strømeng of Karasjok (Norway).

But I must say, owning just one knife..... :barf:

Well my first thought was a Cold Steel Master Hunter with Carbon V blade, but somebody already took that one. I'm going to assume that the Knife Police will let me replace my knife when it wears out. I am not picking a knife that has to last forever, just one that will take care of all of my needs. I'm also going to assume that they don't restrict my possesion and carying of sharpening implements. I'd have to say that I would be most impeded if someone took away my Victorinox Adventurer SAK. It is light enough to carry and has a 3.25" locking blade. It has all of the tools that I use all of the time. My life would go on just fine if they took away all of my other knives. When I go elk hunting I would definitely need to bring along a hone.

I'd have to go with a large Sebenza - or maybe... oh damn, only one :( . Large Sebenze is my final answer. But I reserve my right to change :p .

I've only got 4 "real" knives (BM31s, BM42MC, Kershaw Rainbow Leek, Fer De Lance). If I had to choose one I'd choose the 42. Compact and foldable, yet ridged as a fixed blade when latched.
