Friends, I was once limited to a bare 3 knives.
It was a long time ago and we called it one thing.
Poverty.
Poverty and inexperience.
OK. Two things.
Poverty, inexperience and lack of selection.
Now...
Now... we have...
We have the internet!
Go, put your hands on your CPU!
Dance your fingers across the keyboard and order a new knife.
Fill that knife box and then another.
Enjoy every minute selecting your bladeware for the coming adventure.
Bask in the reflected light of a hundred FB's
Don't limit yourself... extend yourself!

Welcome to the dark side, j williams!

I have been using only three blades since November, and will keep doing so until next November. It has definitely been a challenge, but it has also been a rewarding and educational experience. You get a real sense of the strengths and limitations of your selected knives, from a design and materials perspective. They also become 'your knives' - familiar tools that come to feel like extensions of your body.

Anyway, great idea. I hope it works out well for you!

Let me add that I absolutely do not see the idea of a 'trio challenge' to necessarily mean a move away from knife collecting. Think of it like a short period of minimalism and reflection within a lifelong hobby.
