One? Two? Three? More than three?

I like Stockmans and single blade traditionals. It's funny,I like trappers and congress, but never carry two or 4 blades. The blade that gets most used is the sheepsfoot on a stockman.

One blade for me. I tried carrying a 2 bladed Barlow, but just almost never used the pen blade. Only used it to carve and I don't carve much, if anything I rarely even whittle. If I need a second knife blade, then it's going on a different knife altogether many times opting for a larger knife overall like a buck 110 or a belt knife. Other tools tho, I do carry and use more and more, like a TL-29 or a scout knife. Those are not really blades but other tools that are used for things I will not ever use a blade for. One blade has always done it for me without ever even thinking I need a second blade, unless it was a screwdriver, or a scraper, or something to pry with, or so forth.

I carried a single blade for long while, and it suited me fine, depending on the knife and the work I need it for.
Bumming around the house on weekends I tend to have single blades on me, smaller/slimmer knives at that.
At my job I do a lot of cutting, tons of cardboard. I usually have two blades, Trappers, Jacks, Big Stockman.
Only knives I have with 3 blades are my two Stockmans.... I use all the blades on the big one, the medium I seem to only use the main blade.
I've got a new Harvest Orange from Case, a Muskrat... MAN! Do I love this knife, can't seem to rotate others much because of this one.
Two of the same blade on this doesn't bother me, I like this knife for a lot of cutting, and it's nice having the same blade on the end when
I need a fresh blade, and don't have time to stop and sharpen.

black mamba,

Beautiful knives one and all! I love that Case sowbelly and the 48 Trapper (is that elk?).

I also like 2 or 3 blades. I'd used to like one because that's what I was used to, but now 2 or 3. I love the sheepfoot blade and use it often. My spear/coping 77 Barlow is pretty much perfection and fits my needs so well.

I like to carry 2 bladers. Modified trappers I like. A wharncliff and a drop or clip point. I also enjoy stockman patterns with pen as 3rd. I also like single blades but they will be drop or clip also.

I used to only carry two bladed knives. Then I started messing with single blades, and kinda started digging them. Now I'm exclusively carrying a stockman. I don't see that changing any time soon, so I guess I prefer three blades. The key is that I don't like blade rub at all, so it has to be a particularly well made three bladed knife.

Keep it traditional and remember we have ladies who post here. Post as if you were talking to a very nice lady, because you are.

How many blades do you prefer in a traditional knife for EDC? Do you prefer a SAK/camp knife? What about a stockman? Whittler? Congress? Good old trapper?

After spending years and $ on modern one handed openers, I have had a hard time shaking my appreciation of single blades. Except for a 14 Lick Creek boys knife, and my peanut, okay, and my Case Bose coffin jack, what the hell, my olive SAK cadet, I mainly carry single blades. My ever present Tribal Spear, sometimes my LC from Case and Tracy Larock, others. I'm pretty sure I've asked this before, but I am requesting pictures again.

One of the reasons I carry traditional knives instead of one-handers is the ability to carry a knife with multiple blades, each shaped for a different type of cutting chore.
So, I prefer at least two. Three is even better. Four is usually too much of a good thing.

That looks like the inspiration for the Beatles "Yellow Submarine". Honestly from this perspective it looks to have detailed craftsmanship.

I find most single blade knives to thin for me. I like small knives to have two blades just for the girth of handle. I do prefer three blade stockman over anything else. But I will carry a scout knife from time to time.

I rarely carry three blade or four blade knives. I always have a Peanut on me, so I guess I mostly carry 2 blade knives. Some of my favorite (and oldest) knives are single blade, though.

I like single clip point a lot and also like two and three blade knives in that order. Like Frank anything over three is a little much.

Pretty much any sharp blade will suffice for most of the things I need a knife for. The most important thing to me is how it fits in my pocket. That's why my #83 Tascosa lockback is my favorite EDC. Thin and around that ideal(for me) 3.5" length.

Now that all being said, I would like it even more if it had a sheepsfoot or wharnie in addition to the clip. I used to carry a Case medium stockman prior to GEC entering my life, and I used the sheepsfoot more than anything, but never the pen blade. 2 blades are all I need, a clip and straight edge.

In conclusion, I don't own what I consider "the perfect carrier", and am not sure it exists. If GEC could put a clip/Wharncliffe on a #15 (like they did the #77), that would check off every box of my perfect EDC.
