Thank you!!!! I have been doing research on these, and was leaning toward getting one. You just sealed the deal for me. The hairs on my left forearm are rightfully terrified.
The work sharp removes material in the process of changing your edge from a v grind to convex. The amount of material removed is not a lot and once you have changed the edge you use the fine sanding strip to keep the edge sharp which does not remove much material at all... Basically the same as stroping the edge on leather.
Definitely will be my next purchase, lots of blades to take care of, thanks for the advice [emoji3]Happy to be of service
This.
After doing a little research, the grinder itself + the attachment ends up quite expensive, definitely have to have it,but for now little bit out of budget perhaps in the future I'll get the attachment .The absolute best option is the Ken onion with blade grinding attachment. It takes a knife to a whole different level of sharpness than that of the standard sharpening attachment. It's also allot easier to use and more versatile, with the regular attachment your stuck grinding at the mercy of the machine. Which usually ends up with a high ground convex, but with the blade grinding attachment you can control the edge you want with pressure, belt tension, and pulley placement.
Are you using the attachment as well or just the work- sharp alone?I've had my KOWS for a while now and I truly love it. It's so much fun. But, it takes some getting used to. I use it for my fixed blades, but I'm very hesitant to use on my folders. Especially the thin bladed traditionals. If you aren't careful those belts will eat up a blade. Please practice with some cheap kitchen knives first!!!!
Of course, it can do something like this:

Lots of guys giving good reviews, really think is a must to have tool ,can't wait to get mine, since I own such a good number of blades and axes, thanks a lot for your input, really appreciated !!!!Alone. That's all I really need. But, I have been interested in the horizontal grinding attachment.
I also own a bk1 ,but a little bit scared of using any grinder, I don't want to mess it up, love this blade !!!I'll ditto everyone else who says it's a great tool. Had one of the regular ones, then traded up to the K.O. version. I have a 2x42 grinder, but that's more than a little scary to use for sharpening - for me, anyway. The K.O. WS was instrumental in doing this (since this thread needs at least ONE picture) to my Brute:

Now, it has an actual, functional edge that's around 70° vs. the original which was around, oh....(I'm not exaggerating here) ~110°. It's gone from blunt instrument to cutting edge performer thanks to the K.O. Worksharp.
