Online knife shops suddenly flooded with Microtech production and models "customs"?

Could that have something to do with the fact that Microtech's reputation is crap? Hmm.

I find it surprising Microtech couldn't sell rifles because of the economy; every other firearm manufacturer is having trouble keeping supply up with the demand out there. Ruger quit taking orders because they were so far behind demand. I have heard S&W did the same thing. Must have been something about the company itself, or the rifle.

Pretty much anything that will shoot most of the times you pull the trigger is being bought nowadays out there, as well as the ammo to feed it.

Well. That wouldn't be my explanation. But mine would probably get me banned, so I'll go with yours.:D

No joke. I've talked to Spark twice on the phone today. And that's not counting the e-mails. When I say it's time to back down, it means can it.

I think we have some Microtech haters here. Unless you have first hand experience with their customer service, don't repeat what you hear. We all know there are people who despise success and that's the case here unfortunately. Marfione and MT is arguably one of the most successful modern knife makers out there. He pioneered production aluminum handled folders in the late 90s and is still making killer designs today. This company has the type of followers that were unheard of in its day--I'm talking about collectors who hoard all and any variation of his production knives. And becasue of their success they went to arms development, which other knife maker has done this? Big names back in the day all had ties with the MT manufacturing facility namely, MOD.

Marfione's creativity and their machining capabilities allow them to create the designs we see. In fact, I like the "WTF" screws since they themselves are part of the aesthetics of a Marfione design. When I had the choice between a SOCOM of hex or tri-bit, I went for the tri-bit...it just looks more like a MT. If you don't like them, don't complain because it's part of the design just like how Spyderco uses a hole instead of a thumbstud.

I guess even more bad rep. is going around here about the ZT777/Matrix issue. I just want to note: If you dig deep enough you'll see KAI wasn't so innocent in their conception of that design to begin with and Marfione knew that. And to design the Matrix as an exact "copy" of the 777 is giving KAI a taste of it's own medicine.

I think you sound like a fanboy, and should look to take your own advice...Why don't you tell us of your first hand experience with the knives in question?

I'll complain because it's a "feature" that's purely aesthetic and impairs my ability to perform maintenance on the knife. As such it drives me away from the brand regardless of the politics revolving around the company. I actually like the look of a lot of their manual folders. :)

Yes sir seems that ruger is doing damn well as they are a year behind in orders. I think microtech just wasnt up for the challenge of making a stg but idk personaly i never shot one of theres.

i was going to type a good response out and then i thought why in the hell would i use brain power on microtech knives......

I don't know (or particularly care that much about what has been going on with MT lately). In the past, when i was paying attention, I liked the look of their designs. I even bought a couple, a tanto type of one of their designs (really nice knife, sharp, solid, attractive), and a LCC. Best I remember, there was something that went on with the LCC that I had to contact the company about. I think I stripped a screw-head removing the clip or something, and contacted them. They got a new screw (two of them in fact) out to me pronto, no questions asked. I was impressed with the customer service. But I sold both of those knives, along with a few others of other makes, when I trimmed down my collections in a moment of weakness. I kinda wished I had kept the LCC; not so much the other one.

What I'm trying to say is, I have nothing particular against Microtech. Just noting that I was surprised they couldn't make it with rifles in today's environment. I would say it was something to do with their business model or some other factor than just the economy. I probably shouldn't have said anything, because it obviously came out wrong. But too late now...

This picture speaks volumes about the lack of integrity at Microtech.
The only part of the original post to which I can respond is as follows: Microtech is a strange company indeed.
