Due to recent and tragic events in California what knives would you take with you and why?

Consider you have only five minutes and all would have to appropriate for the public eye due to the shelter you may have to go to. If not, take whatever pleases you.

As for me, I'd take my whole collection since it all fits in a breifcase.:p

And a special thanks to the fighting men and women helping put out the blazes.

And thoughts and prayers for all of those effected....

Mission-MPF. It's the all duty, all weather folder. Titanium-Baby!
Lycosa

I'd take all of them, cause I can fit all of them in my backpack and still have room left for whatever else I need (Small collection.)

I'd take all of my knives - I can roll them all up in a large towel, along with a small bottle of oil and a stone or two. That way, nothing bangs around & gets scratched. Then it goes into a backpack. Whenever I have to move all my knives at once, that's how I do it.

I would pry my house off it's foundation with my new Fallkniven A1 and take my
house with me. Even though I may break the outer layer of my A1. It will still be in one piece to slice tomatoes for dinner. :D

I recently got out the attache case I carried papers home from the college to grade - it hasn't been used in the twelve years since I retired. I put car titles, the house's title - and bank papers, SSI papers & cards, wedding pix on a CD-ROM, Super 8 video of our wedding, birth certificates, my parents paperwork, bank account and insurance papers, etc. I need a tape/DVD of my collections in there, too. Still room... guess it'll get a small CCW and ammo, too. It's my 'mad dash' goodies... other stuff is just stuff - except the twelve photo scrapbook/albums my wife has made... she can break her back carrying them. And - the cats.

I probably should save my revolver and knife collection... both of each. I probably should put a sign on the front door that says RUN!, due to all the homebrew ammo and propellant I have in the house. Maybe just a sign stating KEEP UP! on my back.

It takes horriffic losses - like the fires - or Katrina - to wake us up. Some cash - easily prepared food - water - LED-type flashlights (lots of time per battery) - spare batteries (Lithium AA cells!) - crank radio, etc. I have these - and hiking/camping cook stoves & fuel, stacking pots, water, and simple foods in a tote in my basement 'fear hole' (Tornado warning retreat.). Prepare for disaster - you can't prevent it - you just need to try to exist through it. Have a meeting place - in the home - and nearby.

Mine are all packaged and readily accessible. I could easily get them all into the truck in five minutes.

ill tell you my family, animals, photo albums, bob bag and water food. thats what i had grabed when we evacuated last night. of course i have pics of my knives and belongings left at the house.

today i was able to come home but the fire is still only 5 miles away. Its a hard situation and wondering what happens next is whats hard to deal with.

By the way when we were let back in today i put as many knives as i could in a padded suit case to bring with me with my other stuff incase the wind decides to shift agiain.

Glad to hear that you and your Family are OK out there.

Hope that your House is spared from the fire.

May you and your family stay safe.

Hope everything works out knivesanonymous. If I had to run, I'd just grab my craftsman 8 drawer chest which contains every important blade I own, except for kitchen knives. It's got a handle on each side, and I think I am still one or two knives away from not being able to pick it up anymore:D

Then I'd grab the dog, the kids, and the wife;)

Its hard to breath outside and i had to buy my family beathing masks just incase we go anywhere. i can just bearly see the house across the street. This is much worse off than the other fire that hit us 4 years ago. there are over 700 homes that have burned down and also the number is going up every second.

To any Fire Fighters I give you my thanks and full respect for being there on the front lines of these fires.

I'd take my grandfathers hunting rifle my son's .22 and my great grandfathers pocket watch. Sorry, guys...the knives can fry. I wonder if Scrapyard will warranty that? :)

You & yours are in our prayers. As long as you're all safe, that's what matters most.

ps - if you lose all your knives, :( I'll send one of mine so you can start another collection.

I've actually considered this already in some form I suppose. Quite simply my Delica SS PE, SwissChamp, and Case Medium Stockman. All small enough to hide nicely in one of several pockets and I can choose what is appropriate for the occasion when the need to use one arises. The Trance, smaller SAK's, 110, and 9" fixed tanto blade stay home and I hope for the best for them.

And KA, best of luck with your home. Hope this is all over soon and ends well, although it sounds like you may have a rough couple of days from what I'm hearing on the news.

Make sure I have a copy of my insurance policy and a few knives. Where I live a house fire or tornado is the most likely to accrue.
