Ontario Bushcraft Woodsman

DeSantis usually does a nice job, and Dan knows his 5160 and will make sure its properly hardened for hard use. But if it comes out at the current expected price point and the sheath quality resembles the Gen II series I will be very disappointed. I'm sure any of us true knife junkies would gladly pay a bit more up front for a nice sheath instead of forking out money immediately on a custom rig. I'm excited about this knives little brother as well, but with a knife that small, using affordable 5160 and a "nylon" sheath to have an/$80 street price, I'm sad to say, but I wouldn't dream of it. If it had excellent leather or kydex I would already own one, but not nylon, not at the price point.

Maybe have the different sheaths as an option. Or have three different packages. Kydex, leather or nylon.

Well, For years consumers has been misinformed by Dan Maragni's Heat Treat Protocols.

1) When it first came out, the SP gen II line were marketed as water jet cut instead of laser cutting due to Dan not wanting the steel to be heated during the laser cutting process. Yet, if you look at "Ask Tooj" thread there was a complaint about a wavy SP Gen II spine and Toooj himself said that it is caused by laser cutting......hmmm?!?!

2) the the Gen II line was also said to be around 53-55 RC hardness but again Toooj clarified that the knives were 57-58RC

Any clarification from the moderator?

I guess I should have put the emphasis on probably.

I owe you guys an apology, I'd love to give you an absolute release date, but I'm a little gun shy after telling you like 3 different dates now. We are making progress, but we just keep hitting snags. I'm sorry to say this, but I'm still not sure.

No need to apologize we know you want to get it right the first time! New products can have a need for tweaking or mods or entire make overs. Atleast this thread showed the main reason why and the knowledgeable people shared it and explained the main reason. I been checking to see if its going to be released soon also the few guesstimates was about all we could ask as its still in prototype stage, lots of things happen in that stage I guess. People just are excited about it, even if its a hunk of steel but its a great hunk if steel I hear! OK OK...I admit its one I'm awaiting to hear the experted ones opinions on it. Price targeting point sounds great.

I would much rather have an excellent quality product at a later date than be the beta tester for the company of a sub par product.
I guess I will wait :D

I think that would be the answer. :D

Still no solid dates, but the new handles are in (and look amazing) and the sheaths have been confirmed to still fit. They are on their way and I should have more information soon (I feel like I've said that before).

Hi guys,

I've been doing some traveling, so I haven't been able to pop back in here lately. It sounds like we're in the final stages though, and I hope to have a concrete date very soon. You'll know for sure when it's out though...

Because we're giving one away here!

Stay tuned.
