How is this a limited edition if they ran out and then stocked in more? Did Knifeworks not actually have 800 pieces in? I missed my chance to buy one before but not sure I really want to jump on and get one now if they're just going to keep doing runs of them.

I already got one in Zytel but I don't really like the scale material.

I m carrying Rat 1 with g10 and d2 and it appears to have phosphor bronze washers.
Just got it this week, and I m very impressed with the build quality. I ve never had a d2 steel blade before so I m anxious to see if the edge retention is as good as the cts xhp to which I ve seen it compared. If the d2 turns out to be a decent working knife steel, and the knife is as strong as it appears, this is going to be one of the best bargains on the planet. Check out the price at KW!
I look at this next to my BM 710 which normally comes with d2, and I think "is an axis lock really worth 120.00 more than a liner lock on a knife with similar build quality?" Not to me.:cool:
 
Well I ordered one. I'm a little dubious how "limited edition" it really is. So let's see if the WTB threads show up. I already have one in tan that I re-profiled to 30 degree inclusive, so I will probably keep that as a user and just put this one in a drawer. I kicked myself last time for not getting one before they ran out.

Didn't see any with G10 just nylon and D2 but the phosphor bronze washers would be nice, just ordered 3 of the OD green D2.:thumbup:
 
Knifeworks listed a g10 but when they received the knives they realized that none were g10, so they fixed the listing. The carbon fiber is the g10 model with a carbon fiber overlay which I read on knifeworks facebook page to a reply on april 5th. I ordered 2 Carbon Fiber D2 rat 1 serial # 377/800 & #669/800 I just got them Today 4/29/16 2 day usps priority shipping & they are pretty damn sexy nice with phosphor bronze washers & wicked sharp out of the box.
 
I got my RAT 1 D2 CF in today, and being an extremely picky person I have just a few minor at best complaints. The edge is good, not amazing (normal). The lock sticks a tiny bit (dead solid, so more than tolerated). The knife desperately needed a cleaning when it arrived, the whole thing was coated in oil. The detent is a little stiff (will likely break in smoother).

That's it. I can't come up with anything else. This knife is jaw dropping for it being a $50 knife. It is better made than multiple $100+ knives I have had. The most amazing part is that the standoffs and pivot have the flat on them, so they aren't free spinning when one of the screws are out. Seen $200 knives without that, and this $50 knife has it. Hell yeah.
 
Just got mine in today. 379/800 First RAT, initial impression is it's a beast of a knife. Seems to be built way above its price point. Was kind of disappointed to find the carbon fiber is just an overlay, but oh well. I'll clean it up, put one of my spare bm deep carry clips on it, give the edge a polish and annoy the wife by flicking it open all day. We'll see how it does after a few weeks of carrying.

It's still G10 underneath though. After deforming the Zytel scales screwing the handle screws down too much I really miss G10
 
Sounds like a great deal although I don't own any Ontario products.
Can't beat AUS8A at the price point of the Rat-1.
 
Bah I broke down and got one. My first rat 1 and Ontario product. Not a fan of Chinese made knives but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
 
I was just notified they oversold and are working with Ontario to get more if possible.,

That sucks Colorodo! When did you place your order? I ordered mid morning on Friday and the tracking is showing out for delivery already.
 
Colorodo I Feel bad You did not get one, I Ordered 2 if you want I can sell you one of mine if you would like if you live in the u.s. ?
