Opening packages with your Traditional Knife?

Hand sanitizer and a quick wipe with a paper towel...works well since it's mostly alcohol!

Goo Gone, or just some polish and a lot of rubbing against denim.

I have a Victorinox Adventurer on my kitchen counter that's dedicated purpose is to open packages. When the blade gets so gummed up I feel ashamed, I spray it down with WD40 and it does the trick.

goo gone here too. did the job when working in the stockroom of a retail store opening all of our daily shipment.

First thing I'd try after WD40 or oil is vinegar. You can practically clean your entire house and everything in it with different dilutes of vinegar.

Naphtha too will work. RainX, Zippo fluid, etc.

Rubbing alcohol/ Isopropyl alcohol works well. I use the little alcohol wipes that are intended for injection site prep (usually found in the diabetic section of the pharmacy). One is usually just right for ungunking a blade & I don't have to mess with a bottle or cottonballs or rags or whatever. The individually-wrapped wipes are much more portable as well (keep a few at work, in the car, etc).

This works well.

It's packed with cotton wadding that is soaked with the polish.

alcohol or nail polish remover

Nail polish remover??? Man Card revoked pending enquiries..:D:D

Well you're right it does clean up stuff well, but be careful on some bone it could mess up the dye.

Sticky tape can make a blade 'clammy' and foul to use. I use WD-40 as many others do

zippo fluid is the best around the house I have found.

Never actually had to clean off tape though. Usually just rubs off with a little force.

As someone else mentioned I've always just used my thumb and pushed it off from the spine to the edge. Usually have to do this several times a day at work might try WD40 and see how that goes.
