Opening packages with your Traditional Knife?

It really depends on what kind of glue or tape you're cutting thru as to whether you can get that stuff off the blade. My wife sells and buys a lot of antiques and I'm always cutting thru some box, almost daily. Get some Goo Gone for goodness sake! Course rubbing alcohol is much cheaper and works just as good.

Hand sanitizer and a quick wipe with a paper towel...works well since it's mostly alcohol!

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Since I always have a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket, that's my first try at most things that need cleaning. It works well on blades too.

I usually use whats at hand. for me that is lighter fluid in a little fuel canister (one of the best inventions for the zippo fan). hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol also works if that happens to be closer.

Nail polish remover??? :eek: Man Card revoked pending enquiries..:D:D

Well you're right it does clean up stuff well, but be careful on some bone it could mess up the dye.

Sticky tape can make a blade 'clammy' and foul to use. I use WD-40 as many others do
If the polish remover is acetone it'll work. Some these days contain no acetone.

Goo-Gone has never failed me. Apply it with a Q-tip, rub and wipe it off after a few seconds. Sometimes, it's best to let it soak for a minute or three to soften up more stubborn & set-in gunk, but it always takes care of the glue from tape or other adhesives used with packaging. Also works well with tree sap (I've used it to remove Juniper sap from my blades).

Goo-Gone leaves a little bit of oily residue behind, which I clean up with a quick wipe of a Windex-moistened paper towel.

I use 90% Isopropyl alcohol only because there is always some around the house and it pretty much removes sticky gunk without much effort. Lighter fluid works well too on real heavy deposits.
