Opinel Collection GAW ENDED EARLY WINNER ANNOUNCED

How very generous of you!
I'm in, please and thank you!
This is the knife that I'm most grateful to own. It was recently added to my collection, given to me by my father...it was my grandfather's, and probably the reason I've always been into traditional knives. I remember Grandpa using it for everything, and the blades were basically gone when he passed. My dad had them replaced by a friend who works at Case, and while it would be cool to have the original blades, this means it is still being lovingly put to use!
Thanks again!

...post a picture of your favorite traditional knife and tell us why it's your favorite.

Wow Randy, if I knew the answer to that I'd probably have fewer knives, less debt and more hair. :D
I over thought it and have come to the conclusion, I have so many favorites. Favorite looking, favorite carrying, favorite sentimentally speaking, favorite old knife, favorite new knife... ARRGGH!! Could be the toughest decision since Sofie's choice...

I finally decide to post this knife because today... it is the one I'd pick if I could only have one. The one do it all versatile knife helping me to pretend that I'm ready for anything. :o

Thanks for your generosity toward the porch, I'm in!
BTW Randy, what's your favorite? :)

Great answer.

My favorite would have to be This old Colonial Barlow my Grandfather gave me for doing some work for him. It was my first knife. I had Glennbad bring it back to life with stag covers.

Not an entry, just to say great GAW R Redden, and thanks!

I'm with redsparrow, can't nail one down, but here's one that's among a handful that are my favorite.

I've thought about this thread a while now, and decided to join in the fray ;) as I've taken to carving opinels and that would provide me some nice knives to work on !

As for a traditional knife, right now my entire collection has dwindled down considerably to only a few knives, trying to keep things simple sort of...but this small Rough Rider whittler is a handy small watch pocket knife that I find useful, main blade and the coping blade is used probably the most.

Thanks again for the chance and very kind and generous of you to do so !

Randy, that is a fantastic prize you're offering in this very generous GAW!!:thumbup:
Not an entry from me, though, because I've been a recipient of your generosity already; thanks!!
Best wishes to all of the entrants! :D

(By the way, as to what my favorite knife is, when it comes down to just pure cutting ability, my Opinels are probably as good as any of my knives, and much better than most. Here's one of mine, a #7 when brand new, and after a year of primarily kitchen duty:

Great GAW Randy, I echo GT above with his sentiments towards the opinel. It's my constant daily companion, this no.7 carbone gifted from a good friend of mine. I think it's actually the most affordable knife in my collection but it's one that I gravitate towards most often.

I'm in, and thank you for the generous GAW.
This Queen Dan Burke Stock knife had been a long time favorite of mine. I love the compact size, winterbottom bone scales, and 12C27 Sandvick stainless steel.

Redsparrow when it come to EDC I don' think it gets better than my VIC Farmer.
You and me both buddy! Maybe we should start a Friends of the Farmer thread. :)

I can see why this one is your favorite Randy. Sure turn out nice. You're very fortunate.
My grandfather gave both me and my brother pocket knives one year and within a few days my Mom confiscated them saying, "You will only cut yourself". She was most likely right. I saw it several times in the years that followed but eventually it disappeared. I do wish I had it today.

BTW Randy, your prize photos look even more appealing that the stock photos did. Very generous GAW!

I thought hard about not entering to give others a better chance, but the gift set is just too awesome. I can't resist!:D

The below Henkels is one of two knives I inherited from my grandfather. The only thing I did was sharpen the edge a bit. I carry it a couple Sundays a year to remind me of him and of his importance to me. He carried this for most of his career at Union Pacific Railroad.

Congrats, Tilley Knife, on a very special prize! I can't wait to see your pics of them in action.

Congratulations Daniel!! Enjoy that fantastic prize. Sure would like to see some carved handles on some of those.
Thanks again Randy, it's been a fun thread.

Wow, congrats Daniel. And OP, thanks for the chance. I've spent too much time looking and drooling at the pic in OP. I guess I'll just have to go out and buy one now. [emoji41].
