Opinel to make the Néo6 with "opiflex"

It would be interesting to see them offer 6 -10 without a locking ring. But i suppose that would feel like walking backward to them progress wise--- however they have just essentially released a slipjoint so...

I would LOVE that, they could make "ultra antiques" or replicas of the old design.

It definitely has an anti-knife nanny state feel to it. They can sell pointy knives in the European market, the blunted tip is unnecessary. So,
bring the tip back and offer if in carbon steel, go up the no's and say you're sorry opinel

I think they will come around if this one sells, question is if it will with that 🤡tip..

I tried to sharpen the blunt tip and use it to stab n try cut through stuff. F hopeless... A EDC knife needs a tip 100%

A lot of my.knife use starts at the tip and travels down about half way. This is just a sharp butter knife. It's good for cordiage, and sometimes tape but even then, tape need a tip

I've repaired blades with broken tips before, so it seems like it should be possible on these. It often requires filing the spine downwards to meet the edge, creating a new tip.

Just the tip... 😂

The slipjoint has a good closed strength and arc between the spring engagement points is pretty large, so the chance to accidentaly close it on your fingers is very low.
it works in between like a normal Opinel, with a bit of resistance from the wooden scales.

Pic below - just overcame the closed slipjoint:

As with all Opinels it sharpens up very nicely and shaves effortlessly.

With that said, I really don't like & understand why they chose to blunt the tip, as it s a very small and non threatening knife...

I'll use it to complement my traditional collection and when traveling.

Cheers and have a good one :)

Frankly, I think it’s disgusting that such a product exists. To think that a country hates tools this much is mind boggling.
You need to look into the reason its made.

Its not disgusting at all and to say the French dont like tools/knives is so far from the truth its bizzare.

Have you been to Europe or other countrys besides your own?

Edit, perhaps you are being sarcastic? 😁

I like what you did andy tips exactly how?

I have been trying to find them for sale in the UK as import tax is now stupid for us here.

With a sharp tip that would have been legal in the UK BUT OTHER COUNTRYS HAVE EVEN HARSHER LAWS so its probably a one knife fits all kind of deal.

Believe me in some countrys you dont want to be arguing with the Police about whats what. 🤪

Well, I can't do anything about the tax, but for the tip I just used this: (remove material with 300 - then finish with 1000)

Then I stropped it on leather and after a very short time it was a pointy tip and a shaving sharp knife.

(I made sure that the upper and lower half of the tip converged at the longest point, in order to not lose any length)

The knife is advertised with 70mm blade length and before the work and after the work it was 71,5mm long :)

Hope this helps
