No. 8 'Effie' in Bubinga!

Looks good Robert - you take the handle down on that one? Is it still easy enough to handle in the hand during use?

Those rehandled ones posted above really show some cool looking work and creativity. Good stuff!

That's a standard Slim No. 8 in Bubinga....it is the lower limit of the "easy to hold" scale. I have a Garden No. 8 and a Coghlan's Opie No. 9 that both fit my hand better...

Here they are....the Inox Garden Knife is just about perfect! :thumbup:

Do you find the bubinga any more resistant to the swelling from moisture than the standard beach wood?

This one hasn't got a proper wet workout yet, just some fruit and cigar cutting. Plus I treated the joint with mineral oil soon after I got it.

So, in short, I have no idea. :D

Ok, here's an Opi you don't see pics of too often - No. 15 Fish Knife, walnut handle:

Nice thread, some great looking mods there! Here's a shot of a #6 that I took to whittling on the end, I had gifted this to a friend out west a while back.

Now the #6 is a small knife so whittling on this hard beech wood in that small an area AND being inexperienced at whittling such a thing was inherently dangerous, I came very close TOO many times of slicing/stabbing my fingers, but I ended up not doing harm ;)

Two of my precious slims were sold off, those are VERY thin bladed and also extremely sharp rascals, I do miss those as I do all the knives I've owned;

I don't have many pics of mine. But I do really like them.

Here is one after cutting cows.

Thanks my friend :)

Somtimes some of the threads need to get lifted up from the depth ;)
