Opinels

Here are my Opinels. The most left Effile is the one I am using in the kitchen for over 10 years now. Great slicer.

always enjoying seeing this one, some knives have that right look

Anybody know when they changed the blade stamps?
I like the older style so much more, with the larger "main couronnée" and Opinel FRANCE.
My No. 10 with the older style stamp is a long-time companion. We've been all over together.

Guess I'll have to find some NOS Coghlan's Opinels, if I want that stamp.

Also... are the slim/effilé Opinels only available in stainless? Can't seem to find any in carbon... do they exist?

I like the older stamps too and specifically bought the older Coghlan's No. 9 and 2 older No 8's to get it.

Oh boy, we start with the toughest act to follow. :)

Always like seeing those pics.

These have also been seen.

These knives look awesome, davek14 did you ever make a thread showing the process? Very impressive results..

Also I saw a pic of someone's really short opinel, it was a couple days ago but I can't find the post, anyone know who modded that one?

Great looking stuff in this thread. I think I need some more Opinels and some time to play. If I mess one up it won't kill me and I really like what many of you have done to yours. Much inspiration. Thanks.

Me too. My No. 8 that's been with me for more than a decade has that style stamp and it makes me smile every time I see it. Early 2000s was the best time for Opies IMO.

That's the only thing keeping me from getting a 9, the 8 is just a bit too small for my big meathooks.

Opinel 8 turned into a dedicated friction folder.
(Sorry for the bad pic. Very dark and rainy over here)

No see yet. Yours is turned off.

I just turned mine on, hope it's working right.

Ok well the email was just a thankyou. I may try to replicate the stag example and the old instructions will help. I'm sure I'll fumble a little but it sounds doable and fun enough if it doesn't frustrate me. Picking out scale materials is my sort of diversion.
Thanks again

Nothin fancy just a No. 8 garden knife
