Opinion on different brands that use S35VN/S30V steels

I'd definitely try and get an 0562 or the 0562cf. The M390 on the 0562cf holds an edge for eternity and a half, best steel I've used besides CPM-M4. It's kinda hard finding the 0562 series right now though.

Any ZT will serve you well, and I'm sure you'll end up with more than one eventually:D

In my opinion, yes.
But, elmax, S35VN, and M390 are all great steels. They will all perform well depending on the heat treat; and ZT, Spyderco, and Benchmade all have good heat treats. M390 will be the toughest to sharpen though.

Yes its a great knife, a 560 sold on the exchange yesterday for 135 so I'd keep an eye on there too. All of them will cut fruit veggies, meat, whatever you need to cut. They are not fillet knives but they cut stuff just fine.

Also, is it a good idea to buy from KershawGuy.com? I hear he has some exceptional service. Problem is, when I get the knife, and it breaks, will i still be able to replace it from ZT for a fee for only $30?

Kershaw guy is a regular zt/kershaw dealer, so yes the warranty is valid and any service from any other dealer is the same. The thing with the exchange is you need to check it a few times a day, just today several 560s and 550s sold, one 550 was for 125, several of the 560s were 155 to 185. One piece of advice is to not pay by gift on paypal, and if they are requesting you to pay 3.5% or whatever amount extra to cover paypal fees pass it bye and buy it from someone who is following paypals rules. Never pay gift no mater what.

Damn, I dont see the knives that were sold in the exchange. Do the post automatically disappear when they are sold? Please help, very new to the forum.

I love the ZT 0550 series. Kershaw Guy has them for $135 right now for 1st gens. That's what I carry the most. Just make sure you buy a first quality ZT and not one with XXXX on the blade. You are out of luck on any warranty on the 2nds.

The 0560s are great as well.

Both of these knives are discontinued after 2014 and will not be made anymore. So good deals should be around on both.

Love my ZT550 for hard use tasks but if you want a good "medium duty" knife that will still be a great slicer, Spyderco Manix 2. I have the Cru-wear version and its fantastic! Fun as hell to flick open and closed all day long too!

The posts stay, but many sellers delete the asking prices to protect their future sales.

These steels are all good but each one has slightly different qualities. Most users could be given any of these steels without knowing which was which and they would have a hard time telling the difference. If you obsess over the fine points then you might prefer one steel over another.
