Goldie and I often have different views on the knives I design. I have designed a new stockman with my short, stubby, spay blade and a moderate Wharncliffe, the problem is between a recurved Clip blade with long pull and cut swedge and a Turkesh clilp. Please let me know what you think, maybe with your help I can change Goldie's mind or you may change my mind.
thanks for your help, A. G.

If it is a medium stockman I vote Turkish for the slightly slimmer profile in the pocket.

If it is a large stockman I say your recurved Clip blade with long pull and cut swedge sounds good. (I like large stockman with long pulls)

I like the one on the right - I'm not a huge fan of the recurve.

I'd buy it!

I like the Turkish blade best. Is that going to be in the Working Man's line? I have the Barlow and want to add to the collection. I hope it has the Yellow Green bone.

The one on the right is better IMO, I just like the blade shape a lot better.

FYI: If you wanted to do something different then maybe a nice drop point for the main blade. ;)

Hi,

The second one would be my preference. The straighter traditional clip is a better choice with your current blades. The re-curve is almost redundant with the Spey blade. The curves are very similar and would cause the blades to function virtually the same for me.

Generally I'd prefer a clip blade (turkish clip) over a recurve, so my vote goes to that. But the recurve does look attractive in this particular design.

I'm with the second design as well. As Dalee said, the recurve serves to give a nice belly towards the tip which is something the spey blade already offers (really liking the look of the stubby spey by the way), so the recurve is somewhat redundant.

I got an idea. How about you make both of them, prototypes, really, and send them to me? I could test them out and let you know which one is better!:D

(Sounded good to me.)

Turkish Clip > Recurve

Recurved blades on traditional patterns put them right in to the "will not buy" column.

Turkish clip!! A recurve just doesn't belong on a slip joint, in my opinion.
