Opinions about the Marzitelli Prowler?

I like my prowler a lot. It's a regular in my edc rotation. One of the smoothest openers I have. :)

From Puukkoman:
I tend to steer clear of cheesy $15 zytel knives, in favor of well-built tools that might cost more. For example, the only knife with such a handle that I will ever purchase is a Spyderco. I know they're strong, and that they are made using decent steel. In that case, the fact that the handle is made of FRN contributes to the knife's lightness and ease of carry. In other words, it's a lightweight version of a high-quality knife, not a flimsy piece of crkt.

Maybe you are just a bit confused?
The zytel (actually FRN) handle knives by Spyderco are, for the most part, unlined.
The Prowler has zytel scales over stainless-steel liners, just like the Benchamade Griptilian series.
Only recently has Spyderco answered the lined FRN call with the new Centofante 3 and 4, and the Endura 4 and Delica 4.
It is not a flimsy knife by any measure.
I personally don't care for the Prowler because the blade is too thick for my taste.

Allen.

though i personally dislike FRN/zytel knife handles because of the way they look (ie they look cheap to me) i cant say they arent strong, most certainly strong enough.

As I was finding the Prowler for Jack last night I played with it a bit and it's actually quite comfortable when open because of the wide grooved top piece. I don't like how it opens with just the groove in the blade but, like I said, once it's open it's a pretty comfy knife. (The butt of the handle also digs into the palm of my hand irritatingly but other than that it's good.)

ps Jack, it's a combo edge. It almost looks to be a chisel grind also with just the slightest bevel on the off side.

i will be keeping an eye out for it! greg what knife is that in your avatar?

It's a Plain Regular Small CRK Sebenza that Matt Cucchiara worked over with a Meltdown, Fizz, and Coloring. It's my favorite Sebbie.
I've been getting home late but I'll try to get it in the mail tomorrow.

very nice sebenza! the coloring in the grip threw me off. got your email today,so i will be looking for the little brown truck monday! i am going to have some interesting knives to compare it against. x3tex32 has loaned me a LCC/DA to play with and i am due to receive the airkat tripwire passaround knife soon, and the 5 dollar special! but only the prowler is mine to keep.:D

I have 2 and they are good quality. Mine cost abut $30.00 or so a piece. I've disasembled them and painted them 2 tone, black and olive drab with Brownells Alumahyde. Came out nice.

well the prowler showed up today! thanks oilman! best 5.00 i ever spent. for what i am going to use it for it going to work out great. :D thanks again greg!

just ordered one for $35.00 including shipping..would sure like to know where you are buying them for $15.00. need some for next xmas to use as gifts.

Umm this post was a year ago it was when the Prowler was discontinued by CRKT and smoky mountain knife works were saleing them cheap.

Very cool knife for the price. It is just a fun knife to own. The design is out thier , but its pretty tough. I got mine for 10 dollars a piece. And once again. Not an emerson knock off. Try, marzitelli design, hence "marzitelli prowler". DARGHH!:D
