Dear BF,

As some of you know, i bought a Sebenza about a month and half ago. I've been carrying it everyday, and i still love it as much as the first day it arrived in the mail. To say the least, and for me and my uses, it is perfect...and that is where my problem lies. I love knives, which is obvious because we all do here. So..... naturally i have knives on the want list, however, now with a Sebenza in my pocket, i can't make my self buy any other knife! Like i have had knives in hand, or in carts, and I'm putting in my info and then bam! "no!" i have a great knife, i don't need this!"

The worst part is i make up stupid excuses to try and get myself to buy a new knife like: "*gasp* these titanium handles must be awful in the cold winter, i need something with G10!"

Yea....i'm ridiculous...anyways.... wondering your peoples thoughts! share your stories!

Best,

Al

My most useful blades are all under 150 bucks. Take three of those out and it drops to under 30. Including kitchen knives. I'm still looking for a high end knife to buy that can do the same work. I like to be fancy I guess. :D

If you want to buy more knives, but stuck on the Sebenza, here's what you can do. You can get a micarta 21 for those cold winter months. A wood inlay 21 for fancier occasions. You can even go for a Sebenza 25 if you want a little thicker blade. You get more of the knives you love, yet they are all different

Your realizing that you're not a collector. You went and looked for the perfect knife and found it. I'm in the same boat. I have a Vic Explorer that easily does all my day to day chores. I also have a Buck 110 that takes care of outdoorsy stuff. I was seriously considering a Sebenza but wasn't sure how it would serve. I bought a Buck Spitfire to see as 30 dollars on something that I may or may not use is better than spending over 300. Well the Spitfire sometimes goes along with me and sometimes not. What is really odd is that little 30 buck knife does the job, if I ultimately decide to carry a one handed pocket clip folder all the time I can't see getting the Sebenza now. The Spitfire is great. I even found closing it one handed by depressing the lock and tapping it on my leg to start the fold.Holds an edge well. I want a Sebenza, but just can't see getting one when my cheap Buck is more than capable. Life is weird.

There is nothing wrong with being happy with the knife you've found for edc. Now find another role to fill, and go to work finding the next great knife for you :).

Myself, I've had the same edc blade for 4 years now, and haven't had an urge to find anything else. So you're not alone.

Kitchen knives, camping knives, knives for suits, knives for hiking, knives for gifting away, etc.

Have fun :).

I felt the same way when I got my sebenza. Its been hard to pull the trigger on another knife

Same with the OP. I had been carrying my small 21 sebenza for more then a year. Have tried to carry another blade, but they just don't feel right..

..guess i need to find another reason to keep purchasing more knives [emoji28]

Simple.

Just send your Sebby to me. Then you no longer have the perfect knife and good reason to buy more.

You might have found the ONE or, you will start rotating knives. And that's ok.

I worked my way up to my Sebenzas and Hinderers, if I had just bought those up front I would more than likely not have as many knives as I do now. I would still have most all my higher end spydercos but that's about it.

Nothing wrong with what you're experiencing...I'm sort of riding a similar wave, myself - I've recently had the opportunity to purchase a few knives that were on my short list, and chosen not to do so. I've also been taking the opportunity to shed some "dead weight" (knives I've under-appreciated that are just sitting around).
Good to see that your Sebenza is still the one (cue Shania). Enjoy it! When you do get the itch to buy another knife, try an Insingo

THis thread makes me laugh. I'm in the opposite position. I'm trying to find excuses to keep the sebenza. But, its still on the block. I agree with trying a PM2. Or a Kizer with bearings, like my Ki 423!

When the OP got his Sebenza, I told him to report back in 6 months. Heck, he only made it to a month and a half.

I was going to suggest something similar. Take a look at th Insingo as well as the carbon fiber offerings.

I second this opinion

I don't care what the particular knife is...I think it's great when somebody finds a knife that he likes enough to cause the brakes to actuate.
My ZT 0200kw was sort of that knife for a few years - I didn't stop buying knives when it hit my pocket; but my interest in them once they arrived was minimal. Something to the effect of "Wow, this is a great knife. I really like this. <puts knife back in box, and shelves it>.
It's only been recently that my BUY button got turned off; and it wasn't because I found THE ONE....but I'm enjoying the group that I'm working with right now, nonetheless.

This is how I was for a while after I bought my sebenza.

My suggestion, don't buy anymore knives unless you find a super great deal on one that you've been eye balling for some time. I did this with a Benchmade 940bk and I got it for 140. Got it, felt it in hand and loved it (though when I felt it in store, I didn't care for it) but when I opened it in the mail I loved it and carry it very often. That helped out with the rotation.

So im not crazy!?!?! hahahahaahaha!

I don't think i will buy another Sebenza, I'm happy with one. If i do end up buying something new it will be a different brand forsure to experience something new. I have no owned many knives about would love to try out some others!
