Opinions Needed

I absolutely love that bullet nose drop point large blade!!! :D:D:D:cool: It's hard for me to get beyond looking at that one!!!

For the two smaller - the drop point.

The wharni looks a little wide for the short blade length, IMO.

Now, back to the large bullet nose drop point - when can I get that one? What are my choice in scales? :D

Handle choices are shown on my website. ;)

The wharnie in post # 9 looks good. Now drop the edge like the blade in post # 11 and it would be perfect for kitchen work, holding your knuckles up away from the cutting board. That's where Noshtero's cleaver idea shines: the blade's edge is down there working, without you hitting the board or the food being cut. It also brings the leverage closer to up and down (like an ulu) instead of out in front.

Back to the beginning: the small wharncliff is a nice utility knife, probably even better for shop or city than woods. The big knife has an almost perfect handle. The only thing I would add is a slightly humped back, to fit into the curve inside your palm.

oohh.. those look great john... i especially like that big one...:D looking forward to seeing that one finished...

Personally, I think the drop point looks better but the wharnie would work better. Just my opinion of course.
The big one looks good to me too.

I like the Wharncliffe / Sheepsfoot. The wide blade gives a nice geometry when flat ground, like a cleaver. I'd like to see it a bit longer, 2.5-3.5". Wharnie's are underrated.

All great John. The handle shape on the bigger one is right on, and the wharnny is superb. Good job!

I`m going to try some shorter blades with full size handles. I probably won`t post them here, my "opinions needed" posts are probably getting pretty darn annoying!

I hope all have a wonderfull New Year!

I think they both have great uses in the woods. They are common blade shapes on pocketknives, which get lots of woods usage. Plus, they are likely legal carry. Really great work John. I have a little guy that looks a lot like the middle knife I'm making now.

I'm just one of the many here but I really appreciate these threads. They let me know what the maker is thinking and they let me know what the users want and why.
It is this type of thread that directed me to the makers forums so that I could see more and perhaps buy.
It is this type of thread that makes me a more informed buyer and makes a smart maker better informed on what his clients want.
Just my opinion of course.

I like the first blade and the wharny. My thoughts on the wharny are about the same as Rotte's. A little longer and a bit finer point and it would be great, to my preferences.

Something will be coming to a Makers forum soon.......;)

Aw man I'm trying to focus on other gear, not knives this coming year! You're not helping me any man! Besides, I've already got a great 3.5" wharny!

Hi all,
John they look great. Putting full size handles on is the way to go. Weather with a long blade or a short blade having a comfy handle makes the knife that much better.
The last knife I made for Kathy had a 1.5" blade with a full size handle Heck I even use it because it has the full sized handle.
Those knives look really good man. Happy new year.

Bryan
