Hello All,

I just discovered Entrek Knives, more specifically the Strike Point Folder.

Does anyone have any impressions of this blade, or the brand in general??

The seem real nice in the videos I saw on Utube, but some first hand impressions would be great!! Thanks in advance!

Entrek knives are simply outstanding. They are tough, well made, hard working knives. His 440C will compete with anything out there. As a matter of fact, I just got back from a camping trip where I did a bit of field testing on several blades and Entrek was head and shoulders above the compitition. I tested:
Entrek Jag
SRKW Ratmandu
SRKW Hairy Carry
James Noble Woodlore clone
Buck Nighthawk
Buck 119
ML bush knife
Cold Steel Master Hunter Carbon V
Fallkniven S1
Ontario Ranger Bush RD9
Lone Wolf Trailmate
TOPS Urban Defender

I tested throwing sparks from a ferro rod, shaving fuzz sticks, cutting meat and veggies, cutting sapplings, making figure 4 traps, and just basic camp cutting.

The Entrek held it's edge the longest, and overall was the best performer. The James Noble woodlore, cold steel, Fallkniven, and TOPS were neck and neck. The rest kind of lagged behind those. All in all, I was suprised by how well it performed even though I knew Entrek knives were very good.

Try one, you will not be dissappointed....Jim

Thanx for the info! I have been considering an Entrek for purchase later this year and think that this just made up my mind.

Yea, we have an area that's about 400 acres where we ride 4 wheelers and camp. We always take a bag-o-knives to compare and test as well as bargain gear to see what will cut the mustard. I bought a sleeping bag on clearance, a Coleman 5 degree bag, and they ain't lying...After 10 minutes in the bag I was ready to be turned and basted, and that was at 40 degrees. In Florida 40 F equals 5F. At 60 the old folks start pulling the parkas out...

I have always been impressed with Entrek because of Ray Ennis. He is a very nice man who really knows his stuff. There are 5 videos on youtube of Ray making a Badger from start to finish. Watch those and see how they are made. All by hand and dang near perfect. As soon as I got back I ordered a Javelina, Elk, and survivor for my BOB and truck. The Javelina looks like an excellent bushcraft blade, but truth be known, the Jag worked extremely well for a semi tanto. Hope that helps. I bought my first Entrek froma recommendation here...Jim

I have a Badger and a Javalina. They are both built like tanks, and have done wonderfully at every task I have put them to.

I have always wanted an entrek but was always worried about pulling the trigger because of the lack of reviews, etc. Another thing I am worried of is people saying the sheaths are horrible. I'm thinking of getting an elk and maybe getting a spec-ops combat master sheath for it.

The sheaths are not bad per se, they are just made from thin .60 kydex. Ray has refined the sheaths in the last couple of years as well and they are much better than they used to be. Na Elk in a Spec-Ops combat master is exactly what I'm doing. I kine having the pocket on the front. The other Entrek knives have their original sheaths. My Jag is from '99 maybe, no jimping on the blade and the old style sheath. I cut the belt loop off, remolded the upper area to hold the knife in, and put velcro on the back. I keep it stuck inside my bag for emergencies..

I've been looking for a stout fixed blade around 4", and have basically narrowed it down to ESEE-4, Fallkniven F1, and Entrek Jag. This is gonna be a general camp knife that processes both wood and food. Since I'm gonna be cutting some raw meat for grilling, Entrek Jag looks to be the best candidate with its stainless steel and offset edge. Only the Jag can use its entire edge on a cutting board (without putting the board at the edge of the table). It's a happy coincidence that it sports a high-riding sheath, because it's exactly what I want. I'm not keen on freaking people out, so the knife would be clipped to my belt and invisible under my untucked shirt.

The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is lack of reviews. Yours just sealed the deal. Thanks!

Outstanding! I use my Jag in the kitchen all the time and with a quick rinse, it's ready to go again. I use it to cut up meat for my wolves and it just does a wonderful job. If I use it alot during the day, I do a couple of passes on a diamond stone and it pops the hisr off my arm.

This Jag has been used every day since I got it without any problems at all.
I'm going on another camping trip in a couple of week..when I get the Javelina in- and this time we'll be camping and fishing near a lake so I'll do more food testing as it will clean the fish. Hopefully my camera will be repaired or I'll have a new one and I'll post pics.

The knives are good, but I'm not a fan of the bead blast finish - picks up scratches easily and pretty much negates the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Rust appeared on the handle of my Merc so I went at it with sandpaper and am in the process of putting a satin finish on the entire knife.

What do you think of the merc? I am interested in that design as well.

I don't want to ask too much but it would be great if some of you could post some pictures of your entreks. I could never get a good look at them.
