Opinions on Waved Endura?

My first folder was a waved Emerson Commander that i still carry regularly and love.

That said, i also have the waved versions of the Delica and Endura and both work more effectively/consistently than my Emerson. Spyderco has improved Emerson's original design.

After doing alot of research i decided on a waved endura.

I have been carrying my Benchmade 710 in ATS34 for 6 years, and I figured it was time to be replaced as that if I ever lost it it would be too painful. So I cruised out here and checked out all the waved models, realized that the endura is ambidextrous, and now it is in my pocket.

Another thing I realized is that with the flat saber grind you could put it on a belt and give it more of a scandinavian grind. But for right now I am carrying it as is out of the box and stropping it some everynight before I go to bed. :)

Good choice SamuraiDave . The Endura line from spyderco is my favorite. Perfect size of blade and handle.

If you didn't think the spydie hole was easy enough - the wave is super fast and easy to open one handed. One of my favorite EDC with a great blade shape.

At work I always have a Waved Endura on me, and I keep a Waved delica clipped to my Fatboy.

Value for money on these blades is pretty incredible.

I really like the waved feature, it's just awesome.
But I'm not that crazy about the Endura 4's handle....I don't find it to be very comfortable.

Hey ace,
Any word on the waved endura yet? Fingers crossed for
this week...
I will suggest putting 2 clips on either side of it if you're
into drawing ambi (left or right handed). I'm carrying a
CRK rightside and the waved endura in my left.

Dont forget to loosen the pivot a bit since it was tightened.
Keep me posted!

Hey,
Nope no word yet. I think that it will either be in on monday or Saturday.
Looking forward to it!
Joe

Before I used one, I didn't really see the need for a wave since the hole works quite well. But when does an average city joe need a knife? Usually when taking out the trash and breaking down boxes. The wave just adds a bit more effieciency to getting the knife out to cut. I think it is an improvement, an improvement that also happens to be fun. Please note, several folks mentioned that a wave will wear out the pockets. Well that may be true but not because it is all that harsh on pants, but more so that it is so fun to open you will be scampering about your living room or man cave waving back and forth. :D

After getting this smaller brother D4w i walked arround the house al they long; open close open close open close.. lol

Someday i will pick up it's bigger brother. Although the spyderhole is sufficient the wave feature is just plain fun to use. Next to that its a great bottleopener when i get thursty from al this flick flackin'.

(BTW how do you like my mouse mat)
;)

Maarten---You could use the Waved blade as a tooth pick, if you had to! jk. funk-ee pics!

How does the waved blade compare to the standard blade in terms of durability? It looks to me like it wouldn't be quite as sturdy as a normal Delica or Endura.

Quick knife to get open, have to watch out for fobbling it while practicing and poking a hole in the cat. If I was carrying a folding knife as a primary means of self defense it would be a good choice. I found that the waved endura was a bit bigger than I was comfortable with for daily carry, hard to reach past it to get keys or change.

I think you would have a better chance or ripping the pivot out of the FRN before you hurt the overall integrity of the blade. If you actually managed to do that you should hit yourself in the forehead and say, "D,Oh!, I shoulda got the right tool!"

nice pix Mat....watch out for them thumbs w/ that Schanz grind ;)

Thanx Brian.

I know the other 'schanz flatty' Native almost lobbed my left indexfinger. These are devilish sharp . And nice toothpicks too lol.

Not by design.

You can flick it, although doing a lot of this is not exactly great for the knife. There is no spring assist to launch the blade. One might say the wave feature is a deployment assist, since it is purposely designed to catch the edge of your pocket and swing the blade out as you draw the knife.
