Options for rustless carry

Boye's Cobalt is awesome, but light it aint;)

Lightweight and rust proof... sounds like you need titanium, so either something from Mission or something from Mecha Mecha would do the trick:thumbsup:

I would like a sweat on it all day, and jump in the pool with it kind of knife. H1 and lc200n are on the list, but I'm limiting options to one that I can both neck and belt carry, or just a dedicated folder. Lightweight preference.

I have a native and 2 endures already, so salt versions seem too similar. The ark is about perfect, but no belt carry options. I'd love a para 3 in lc200n but that seems to not be on the horizon.

Outside of what I've been looking at with Spyderco, what options am I not thinking of?

David Boye has been doing rustless, light weight, easy caryy longer than anyone. His folder is a favorite of many, including sailors.

It tends to be less bulky by having the sheath right up against the belt and I feel like I can get it more snug to the belt too.
It's also arguably more versatile. The holes on a sheath need to be measured specifically to fit G-Clips and Tek-Loks, whereas as long as it has a couple of holes you can use paracord. You can probably recreate any angle offered by one of the clips if you get crafty with looping and crossing the cord.

I had not given paracord a serious thought, it may be the way to go.

View attachment 1178607 I am in the same boat. I can rust almost anything with my toxic sweat within a few days. In the summer I am soaked from 8am to 4pm. I don’t carry my “upper end” knives at work because of this.
So far one of the only knives holding up with NO signs of rust is a Damascus Civivi. Weird, I know. I think the high polish Damascus might have something to do with it. Hell I don’t know. My Praxis has been taking a beating and is still not rusting. I have carried it almost every day this summer.

The Praxis in Damascus was already on my list, but not the rust list. Now it jumps up on the lust if you had this experience with it. For the price I wont feel bad. How is the lockup on yours?

Another option. Take care of your knife so it doesn't rust. Like clean it and dry it off, maybe a little rust protection.

I literally need to be able to swim with it, so I can take care of it before and after.

My family member that got me into knives had one on the pool the other day, and scolded me for not having one also! It just shows he loves me.

Spyderco Dragonfly in H1 is small enough to neck carry and also has a pocket clip. Mine is my designated boat/beach knife. And it’s easy to RIT dye the FRN if yellow isn’t your thing (mine is charcoal grey).

Interesting option I had not thought of. When you use the dye do you have to remove or fully disassemble the scales? Or can you do it with the blade in place? The Dragonfly may join the list then.

There are neck carry sheaths available for the Spyderco Salts...Dragonfly, Salt, Native...that also open the knife when you pull it free.

I don't have the Praxis but I have a few other Civivis. (The Naja is my EDC.) The fit, finish, and overall quality have been exceptional for the price.

I disassembled it, but you could theoretically dye it without, although I’m not sure if submerging the blade in boiling water has any negative consequences. Disassembly is pretty painless, since there aren’t many parts (other than hardware, it’s the blade, lock bar, and lock spring). Took me longer to boil the dye than it did to take the knife apart.

The lock up is perfect. WE has excellent quality control.
If you want lighter weight I would suggest one of the Isham designs.

Something from the salt line seems exactly perfect. It's not redundant if one does what you want but the other can't. There are so many options in the salt line it is hard to believe that you couldn't find something to fit your needs. Although you haven't described what you would be cutting, what I have clipped to my pocket in a sweaty or water situation is a Pacific salt, tasman salt, or dragonfly 2 salt, in that order. For a fixed blade there are many options in the line. I currently favor the waterway.

Daniel Fairly ti backpacker, imo.

You won't like the sound of this but anything 440a or 8crmov is very rust resistant! I was going to suggest a Rough Rider trapper in 440a or a anything in 8crmov.
