Haven't been this giddy in a while. The knife is perfect! Already read where some locks were sticky and action tight but I am lucky as this one rivals my CPMD2 for smoothness. Absolutely no play and just a joy to operate.
Gonna be a keeper and user.

i just got mine in the mail a few hours ago.
lock up on mine is perfect, no play whatsoever...
blade is also very centered.
only complaint is the grind job on it, its not the cleanest looking, but still extremely sharp! not a big deal cause edges are meant to be used, and resharpened.
maybe the CTS-XHP steel is harder to sharpen?

Just got mine. Lockup is perfect, Centered, and opens smoothly. Going to keep and EDC mine.

What is going on with their edges lately?

Why are they not sharpening all the way to the ricasso now? Looks weird.

ETA: It isn't just the knife above, I've seen that on three of these knives already.

Great pics fellows!

No pics here, but my two are the smoothest Para2's I have had. Nice light detent, very smooth, lock not a bit sticky, blade's centered, and of course its freaking scary sharp. The only smoother Spyderco I've ever had was a CPM D2 Para1.
Not sure if I got lucky, or if most all of these(and hopefully future Para's) will be very smooth. I guess I'll find out when the green one's come out:p

Hmm, That's weird. I got a brand new one (PM2) a couple of weeks ago and it was sharpened all the way to the ricasso (Albeit The bevels were uneven) I will have to keep an eye out for that in the future.

I know what you mean. One of the ones I have looks like it was stropped on a gravel road. All of them have about 1-3 mm ricasso that is not sharpened.

I have noticed it also. Both my M390 and S35VN were sharpened like this. I don't get it. It seems like the P2's are either over ground or under ground and never quite right.

Damn, that edge is totally unacceptable. Guess some people will just HAVE to sell theirs at a huge profit. ;)

Now that you mentioned it I can see the variations from knife to knife. I think I got lucky there too..

I noticed it too but for my personal collection where I carry everything and use and sharpen them it is not a bother.

From a CQI standpoint it is a a small demerit. However mine has perfect lockup which if it did not I dont know how to fix it so I'd have to send it in for tweaking. Perfect centering which again can be tricky to fix in the field. Unlocks and falls with gravity which again some have had sticky P2's have to go back in in the past. The blade flat grind is perfect on both sides. Its the primary edge that was not run all the way to the ricasso.

So really all the major stuff is perfect. I will use this one and when I go to sharpen it for the first time I'm going to reprofile the primary edge as I always do and I as I do that will just run the primary edge closer to the ricasso. so the issue while real is quite correctable by the user themselves. I am more a user one who might resell an unused one for profit so I do not know how the Collectors market where at resale knives are favored to be in uncarried unsharpened condition would view the blemish. For a collector who does not use the knives in their collection it might be a larger issue.

OTOH if such a collector was to call spyderco I imagine they probably could lightly touch the corner to the belt for you to adjust the primary edge in which case the knife would still be in factory sharpened uncarried condition.

Overall just loving this knife. Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!
