Three year old scar, from a snap on branded Chinese knife. Damn sharp maker

Will, what stones did you put on your Edge Pro blanks?

I got some Moldmasters from Congress tool. I got a 120, 220 and 400. the 220 and 400 are backup for when my current ones wear out. My 120 wasa already worn out so I had to slap on the MM. I did that Manix today with it. 12 degrees perside was a cakewalk with that stone. It cuts superfast!

Difficultly with sharpening all depends on the heat treat. I don't find either Damascus or M390 hard to sharpen. Spyderco's M390 is harder than Benchmades. My main sharpening tool is a sharpmaker. I bought some lower grit rods for re-profiling doesn't take long at all.

I have found BMs m390 to be a bit softer as well. I had a 755 that wasn't very difficult to reprofile then I got Steeley's Blue Para (A thing of beauty BTW) and it was way harder to reprofile than the BM

I always say you have never owned a knife until you cut yourself with it!

Very true. I don't do it on purpose (That'd be weird) But I can never really a knife is mine until she bites me.

I am going to reprofile my custom here soon. I got a 400 grit moldmaster as well. May try reprofiling that tomorrow. It is ground thin though so it probably won't take too long. Moldmasters cut nicely for the price.

I have so many knife related scars it's not even funny. Got a pretty big one from a small machete on my shoulder, My right middle finger is forever deformed from an ESEE 4. I've got little scars on all my knuckles from various mishaps. I also got a scar on my left cheek from when I ran into a barbed wire fence when I was about 10 or 11. got a bunch more but I can't remember how I got them. Never been cut by a cleaver though lol.

I can get a mirror edge on pretty much all of my knives in a few minutes using the paper wheels including ones in damascus, CPM-M4, M390, and S90V. However, at a certain point, physics and chemistry come into play and you really need an efficient way of using ceramics or diamonds with some type of machine. Trying to get a mirror edge on something 70+ HRC is probably the biggest sharpening challenge I've had. Reprofiling before attempting the mirror edge? insanity.

The OTK right? What are you going to take it to? I was really surprised by how inexpensive the Molmasters were. They work a whole lot better than the stock EP stones for sure. I do want to get some Choseras or Shaptons in the future just to try them

Madness! When I was reading 70+RC I instantly thought Rex 121. Nice Farid Mule, how does it hold up?

I will probably match Davids edge that it came with. Maybe a bit thinner. Near the tip it is about *15 degrees per side. I think a bit less near the handle. I Ken Scwhartz sells the Chosera, Shapton, and I think he may cut Nubatama for them as well.

For a thick knife, it's a pretty fine slicer. The edge is scary, I've been cut by it a couple of times. It was sharp already when I first got it, but I figure, with such high hardness, I could really bring down the edge angles a lot but I'd have to be careful since I don't know how brittle it is. It's around 26-28 degrees inclusive, which is as low as I can get my WE to do, and it took me about 20 minutes on the slotted paper wheel to get the edge polished to the point you see in the pic. My CPM-M4 Military and early issue Gayle Bradley (supposedly higher hardness) literally take only about 2 minutes to polish the edge.

I'm really happy with the mule though, and it will be my project to put handle scales on it and make a sheath. I originally got it to check out the steel so I know what to expect when Farid is done with the REX-121 K2s.

I don't know if you can tell (crappy lighting) But this is where a cheapo knife got me a LONG time ago.

It was this knife

The only knife to get me (knock on wood) was an SG2 Blur that I sold immediately lol.

That would be a scary one to get bit by. I had a stropped SG2, every time i got drunk id show it off and have bald spots all over my arms the next morning... I consider myself very lucky
