did u grind out that sharpening relief on that zt? looks huge

I ground in a finger choil to make it a bit more like an XM. I initially posted here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...mes-amp-Joyous-Knives?p=11799075#post11799075

Size wise, it really feels closer to the 24 than the 18. So...yeah. I ground it in, and used some agressive polishing compound and a small buffing wheel to break the corners of the hole, deburr it, and polish it all off so it's comfy.

Great photo, Stick! Gotta get a Blur one of these days. .

Thank you. :D Yes, you do need to find a CF Blur. NAO! :p

anyone looking for a ZT0551? One on another site for $220 LNIB comes with orange frag scale

Hahaha, It isn't mine unfortunately. I can make some like that I just need the supplies! The gentleman said he has started making them so you could email him if interested. I don't want to put his info on here because he is not a paying member. I'll send it to you via P.M.

Nice pieces for sale. Damn right you're not selling that CF154 Blur... *grumble*

thats sweet, what did u use?

I used a Dremel mounted on a Workstation press. The entire shaping was done with a 5/8" grinding stone (The big round orange Aluminum Oxide one, model 8193 I think). I used a small bowl filled with ice water to keep the blade cool whenever it got close to being warm. It took a decent amount of time, since the Elmax put up quite a fight and I was stopping constantly to make sure the blade didn't heat up (and risk drawing out the temper). I plunged right into the sharpening choil, keeping the curve coming up from the flipper tang. I then just widened it and brought it back into the flipper a bit. After it was shaped, I put some aggressive polishing compound (the white stuff I got from Stropman) onto a small buffing wheel and polished the edges of the choil, removed all the burrs and cleaned up the inside. Feels smooth as hell, like it was always there.
