You guys are crazy with those wicked edges. I can't bring myself to shell out that much cash for a sharpening system. I just stick with my sharpmaker. (Sorry Kershaw, but the thing is damn easy to use)

I'm here!, I see knotty that you have the pic to my sig! I still love the ariel atom so much, I went down to VIR (virginia international raceway) and they have a shop on the grounds where they make the Merican version and have 3 day driving skools! Awesome place to hang out for a day!

That driving school sounds awesome! I went to my first NASCAR race early this year at MIS (Michigan International Raceway). That race was awesome, 200 MPH is a lot faster in real life. I believe a new season of Top Gear (U.K.) starts on the 27th of January.

Nothing wrong with the Sharpmaker, I just got tired of the limited angle options. Why bother with all of these "super steels" if I am going to put the same edge on them as I do on 14C28N? :p

Plus I justified the price by asking myself "would I rather have 2-3 more knives or a way to sharpen them all"... of course, I ended up buying the knives anyway. :o

I wish I had $1400 to take it! When they do open houses down there they will have $10 for 2 laps in the atom. I have seen awesome cars down there on open house days, GTSR race vipers and Maserati's! I also have Martinsville Speedway in my back yard practically. It is pretty neat to see them in person (cars), DAMN LOUD! You are correct on the new season. If you wait a day or two you can watch them on streetfire.net like I do! You just have to know the season number and the episode number to find it easily.

I'd rather spend that $1,400 on some new knives. 2 laps for $10 is definitely worth it in my book. The race I went to (NASCAR) was WAY louder then I ever expected. Season 19 episode 1 here I come.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the Order of Kai in my sig line.

Just got this beauty yesterday, haven't posted a pic yet, and I feel like this is as good a place as any. :p

Reminds me of a 0560 in a tuxedo.

someone want to make me one, im not what you would call proficient with photoshop or equivalent.... im number 666, have fun lol

They have addressed it with the new upgrade kit, but I am still determining if it is necessary for me. Even with the slight amount of play, I am much more accurate than I was on my Sharpmaker. The upgrade kit includes new micro-adjustable ball joint and guide rod assemblies allowing for adjustments of +/- .05 degrees, a new riser block allowing for angles down to 13 degrees, and a longer base rod calibrated to the new riser and arms.

That's actually what concerned me. I saw the JDavis videos, and he said that they sent him replacement screws or something to eliminate the excessive slop in the standard joints. The upgrade kit is another big chunk of change that I'm not really feeling should be paid just to get the arms to be precise... I emailed them about it, they responded with the upgrade kit, and I asked about the videos and the replacement screws. Haven't heard back, so I resent my email.

I mean, it's a lot of money for the sharpener to begin with, so I suppose the extra cost for the upgrade isn't much in that context, but I just figured the stock package wouldn't have that kind of thing. Hmmmm.... :(

On a lighter note, that Volt looks freaking ridiculous. I'm not the biggest RJ Martin fan, but that design is just tits.

I ran some errands, cleaned the saltwater tank real good (and rescued the stupid goby and a starfish from the back compartments), put a couple of new torsion bars in some of my older Blurs, got my mom's husband into a Beretta 92FS, and got us 500 rounds of premium defensive ammo to split. And it snowed a bit.

Good day :)

I've gotten at least a dozen people to get one either as their first handgun, or to switch to one from another brand :D

It's a trade off from the Wicked Edge to the Edge Pro. Wicked Edge is definitely more repeatable, doesn't require you to tape up your blade, and doesn't require nearly as much intense focus during the process. The Edge Pro has tighter tolerances, more stones, and can sharpen to a lower angle out of the box. At least with the WE, you have the option to upgrade and have all the advantages of both though. With the EP, you can't remedy it's shortcomings. Is the WE worth the difference in price, especially after the upgrade? That can only be left up to the person who will be using it. I say yes, but completely understand why others say no.

ok guys i gotta know what you think of my sig, I love the new scale on my 0561 and have to have it in there, I know it looks a little busy but couldn't help myself. Sorry I don't mean to thread jack and please don't distract from what was being talked about but I think its too silly of an issue to create a new thread for lol.

That's fair. I still may get one. A friend of mine (who knife swapped his Junglas for my Hoodlum) is likely getting a WE, so we may sharpener swap as well and try each others out before I commit to that kind of purchase. Thanks for the info Mr. SO. :)

How does it compare to the Lanksy? I really rather like my lansky
I actually still have my Lansky stuff. It's a good sharpener for what it is, but it has its limitations that only become more apparent with any sharpener that gives you the angle flexibility that the EP or WE do.

In reality though, I don't even use my EP all that much, at least not for my pocket knives. Once I reprofile something, I can maintain it on a strop for at least a couple months before I need to sharpen it, and then I just use the Sharpmaker. A tiny 40* bevel on a 30 primary bevel still works great, and I just go with that until I feel like backing it up again.

It is indeed busy. Kind of looks like Reptile from Mortal Kombat. A bit gaudy, but I like it.

Looks good brent:thumbup:

Watching football now and drinking a beer!

By the way that bottle opener is from the 1930's. I found it and a few other sweet things in an old house I gutted for an apartment.

I have an older model WE, and all I did was add teflon washers to the pivots, slop is gone.
