I kept telling them to leave Mario alone because there would be nothing left of him :p They wouldn't listen!

Fun little update: After seeing gooeytek take the finger choil-ish thing on his 0550BLK, I had some confidence to do a slight mod of my own to my 0550. If you guys notice on the 0550, the sharpening choil is pretty tiny. The plunge in some of them starts just passed the heel, and most edges I've seen on the 0550 end up being more obtuse than I'm likely to want. When I finally reprofiled my (replaced) 0550 blade to 16 degrees per side, the bevel climbed up the heel, up into the round part of the grind. It didn't effect the cutting performance, but it just looked odd, and bothered me a bit.

You'll notice the sharpening coil on the 0560 is pretty big, and it accommodates a low angle edge perfectly. Same goes for the Knockout and the Piston. So, on the 0550, I decided to enlarge it to accommodate the low angle of the bevel.

Here's the stock sharpening choil:

And after some work the the Dremel (mounted on the Workstation), a 5/32" grinding stone (#453, the "Chain Saw Sharpening Stone), and an ice cube, the heel of my 0550 looks much much better. Check it out:

Woot!

Awww! That's awesome. Can't wait to have some kids and then show them how awesome knives are. :D I see what looks like a dyed Echelon..and a wooden Spyderco? Details?

I wanted to get my middle son a Kershaw of his choice, but he really, reeeeeaaaalllly (the exact way he says it) wanted a spydy because of the whole thumbhole deal ( seen one at a local shop and fell in love and my PM2). So I ended up getting him a blue Ambitious because he loves blue. My daughter loves bright and lime greens so there was only one clear choice for her, A 1440 in Lime!. My youngest I had no clue what I was going to get, then I happened upon a picture on an email and I did some research and came up with the wooden dragonfly. I figured if it was like brothers he would be happy, otherwise I would have gotten him a case wood folder. He wants to paint it green (his favorite color).

Just a word of caution, If you buy your kids knives, you probably would want to tell your wife. I did not and gave them to them at the end of christmas after there were no more presents. I was in the dog house for awhile! It was way worth it though to see their faces!

Last weekend I was giving my youngun's some pointers and teaching them a few things out back with their new knives. I even got the neighbors daughter (far left) in on the fun! They have been itching to do some cutting, asking me everday "Dad is there something I can cut for you?" and "Oh can I cut that?". They had fun whittling sticks for about an hour, my youngest was cutting dead leaves and breaking twigs in half with his wooden folder!

Your Daughter looks like she knows what she's doing. Very cool.

Your wife looks out and sees all her kids with knives... What's wrong with that. I want to get. Knife for.my kid but she isn't even 2 yet. She.knows though, any time she can't open a box or package she finds me and says "kni" and points to the box. So I take out my knife and show her how to cut stuff.

Thanks man. When she wants to, she can listen and follow directions very well. She is very artistic and is great at detailed work!

Time, or get her a wooden kit like I did for my 4 yr old. He loves it and is bugging me to paint it! I knew that I couldn't get him a real folder or I would have been done for! Keep teaching she is just soaking it all in, I know mine did. They are already asking what they can get next!

I started to show the older two how to make a snare trap. They wanted to try and catch the dogs, I almost let them catch the wife's pom!

Oh Yeah!...till all this rain turns to ice..then it gets fun lol ... also love all these schools closing and delays and there is no snow yet!!! Hurry I need to get milk and bread!

Chester and all my other local knife buds, you enjoying the current weather?

Damn rain and sleet since 1pm today. I think 3 days of solid rain is enough already. If I was back home we would have at least a foot of snow on the ground! Stupid south, kids got out on a 2hr early dismissal, because it was raining, yes raining, only down here!!!! They only heard it was going to snow around 5pm. I bet if I went to the grocery store right meow, I couldn't even buy a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk . The world ends here when snow is mentioned, cars are abonded on the side of the road and in the middle of parking lots. NO JOKE! Can you tell I am perturbed :grumpy: ?

About an hour north, around or above spxtrader they have 2.0 inches on the ground and it's a ghost town.

I was shocked when I moved down here just how retarded it gets.

I'll bet school gets cancelled tomorrow :stupid:

Good lord, this thread is insanity. By the time I catch up, there are 10 new posts.

Rain - enough already, i don't know how you northwesterners deal with it.

0550 choil - I really wish they had gone with the one showed on the prototype. I have been considering sending mine out to have it done ever since I got my Strider. I love the control you have with a grip that far up on the blade.

I use my AR15 for Coyotes, a .22 for squirrels and groundhogs when I head up to my wife's families property in Wyoming. That's really the only hunting I do.

Oh, I forgot about Coyotes. My dad absolutely hates them. He has a work buddy and they go out Coyote hunting all the time. My dad likes to use his 870 on those. His work buddy has one of those rabbit machines where it imitates a rabbit squealing and "wagging" it's tail around. One time my dad put out the leftovers of the turkey from Thanksgiving and the coyotes ate that up. I'm hoping I can get out sometime with him. Maybe we can get a shot at one while Squirrel hunting this weekend.

I hope my school doesn't cancel, because tomorrow is a half day, and if they cancel we'll have to do a full 7 hour make up day.

Hello everybody. Stick, not to pester you, did you get my PM?

Yessir. I had no idea you were CaffieneJunky. Been a subscriber for a while. I'll respond soon with some thoughts, but they involve getting/using a video editor instead of using a straight up converter. I think your results will be better that way, and you'll have overall more flexibility.

Man, we can't get 'em within 300 yards, even with bait!

That's not a problem, though....

That's very cool to see the little ones getting into this hobby. We need to expand this hobby.

I also like what you did with your sisters boyfriends Skyline. I find that pretty funny.

I agree with the hot-pink idea and the banning of Fancy Nutz.
