Place the blade edge against the tree and hit the spine of the blade (with another piece of wood). Basically you want to cut a V shape, like if you were using an axe.

A 1-foot diameter tree might be a bit optimistic for a Skyline fixed blade though. I don't know that I'd baton with a hollow-ground blade. Seems like it'd be more prone to breakage.

True, and he also didn't say how long I had to take. I'll try to be reasonable though. I hope I don't get half-way through the tree and then it decides to fall. I'll just 6 inches into another tree if that happens.

Oh well, send him all the skylines you want, he’s still not gunna do it.
