Morning gents. I am going to put this here in case somehow no one has ever seen it.

Number five is probably even better.

I feel bad about what I did yesterday.

That tree chopping is going to have to wait until tomorrow. My mom is busy today, and she thinks I'll hurt myself....which is probably true.

I went to Hinderer's website, and sent them an email about the nuttycrunch video. Aside from all the legal mumbo jumbo that everyone and their mothers want to tout in the thread in General, it still violates YouTube's ToS, and should be taken down. I wrote them this:

Hello,

I'm not sure if anyone at Hinderer Knives is aware yet, but nutnfancy on YouTube (extremely popular knife reviewer) published a video yesterday reviewing and promoting the sale of counterfeit Hinderer XM-18s. Aside from all of the buzz on forums, I felt I should bring this to your attention. I'm uncertain of the legal implications, however this video DOES violate YouTube's terms of service, and can be taken down for promoting the sale of counterfeit goods.

I urge that you (or the appropriate person) flag the video, select the "Infringes my rights" option, and follow through the options to report it for promoting the sale of counterfeits. The video would then likely be taken down and nutnfancy's account would be given a strike. Three strikes, and his account is terminated.

"nutnfancy" often skirts the line with issues like this, and personally I feel he needs to feel the actual consequences of it. More objectively, the very close copy presented in the video would pose real issues to possible customers in the future should they find their way into the secondary market.

Please take the time to look at and address this issue. Thank you.

^I would urge all of you guys to do similar, so that then maybe either Rick or someone at the company can file the claim, and perhaps get the video taken down. YouTube is actually, usually very good with claims like this, and if that video gets taken down, he'll get a strike on his account. Three strikes within 6 months, and his account is terminated. YouTube does care about views and ad revenue, but trust me, they don't care enough about one random crappy channel with a coupe hundred thou subscribers.

Do it guys, perhaps it'll actually do something.

Good idea. I mean we as Hinderer supporters can flag it ourselves too.

I love the gymkhana series Blockhead has done.

Rainy and bleh here. Maybe I'll catch up on topgear.

I tried, but in the claim form, they require trademark information and numbers. I don't know any of that, so I figure it's information for the trademark owner to provide... It's also good for the people at the company to be aware directly.

And while you're doing that...email Hinderer! Join the cause! :p

To me filling Ricks Inbox with a ton of emails may not help the cause and would probably piss him off....I know it would drive me crazy. And these knockoffs have been around for awhile so its not like he doesn't know about them....

I once emailed Strider about some fakes I saw and he said

"Yeah....

They now copy every damn knife I make.

It's all good.

It just promotes my product. "

Thanks man!

Mick

Stupid thread. I know I have my opinion on the topic, but what gets me is that as soon as you start talking about fakes, everyone and their mother is a patent lawyer, an expert in the the field if IP theft.

Not to mention the most informed knife enthusiasts known to man.

It's rather irritating.

I'm kinda upset I didn't even get the chance to watch the vid before he took it down. Just so I know what everyone is having a hissy fit over.

He took it down? Not surprising I guess.

Ankerson put up a nice little recap of some TiLT cutting in the reviews & testing forum for anyone who is interested.

Huzzah. Too bad he didn't leave it up long enough to get it taken down by YouTube... Screw him.

I'm not an IP law expert, but being a working musician in NYC for almost 8 years gives me some decent amount of knowledge about it. However I do know YouTube's ToS very very well...I've been on both ends of it.
