I'm not too sure on what you mean. Are you just talking about the strokes? I do mine just like John does at about 4:36 in this video.

Yeah, the strokes. The way you sharpen your knives, is that how you're supposed to do it on the Lansky? I always thought you were supposed to go just UP on the blade, lift, and move to the next spot and repeat, not sharpen the blade in a "sawing" motion. That's what I thought you did on the Lansky, but I'm not sure if It's different for the Wicked Edge or Edge Pro.

He does it in a sawing motion too.

How do you sharpen with the Lansky Mark?

This is what I do.

That's what I did when I had the Lansky and it worked fine for me. You can probably "saw" less when you get up to the higher grits but I'd say definitely do it with the lower grit stones until you apex the edge. After I apex the edge doing the sawing motion, I like to make the strokes longer, covering more edge with each stroke if that makes sense. It seems to clean up the bevel a little bit so you don't have that cloudy look when you get up to the higher grit stones (Which I've been having trouble with lately)

The directions say towards the blade only, in a zig zag pattern and repeat. I have done hundreds of knives this way to darn near perfection

I guess I'm just weird than. I'll switch it up and see if I can get some better results. I think tomorrow I'm going to dull the crap out of my OD-2 and see how sharp I can get it and see if what I'm doing is actually working. That should be some stressful work.

I mean bigger strokes. You can keep the same pressure but run the stone along more of the edge before you reverse or repeat strokes. Just do what works and what's comfortable for you. You'll find a system that works for you, it just takes some time.
ight  (hehe)

1 easy way to dull a knife quickly, is to cut into the side of the extra course stone.

*face palm*
Hahahahahaha. You should've heard me last year when all I was saying was "son". I would pause after a sentence and say it. People were getting pissed. That's basically everyone's favorite word around here, so I thought I'd make in front of them. Earlier this year I was saying "Awww, that's cute". Now It's "ight".

Couple other things I feel like saying. We got our uniforms today. We don't get to pick our numbers. There's jerseys from previous years and we have to pick them based on size. Obviously I'm a small, but luckily I was able to get number 2. I would've liked to get number 7, but I'm ok. We also got pants, and we took orders for hats, socks (I already have), belts, and undershirts. Our school colors are maroon and white.
