If the ZT's ending with KW are exclusive to KnifeWorks, then how did Dave end up with them? I'm not complaining, just curious because his prices are awesome!

Found my OD-2 upstairs in my sister's bedroom. It must've fallen out of my pocket when I was crawling on the floor, don't ask. Sorry to the Modernistic guys.

Maybe he bought it of them, and is reselling them

Possibly, but I don't see a lot of money being made that way, but It's Dave and for all we know he could be doing it just for the customer service part of it, which is already stellar. This would put it over the top.

Even BladeHQ was selling KWs at one point.

What do you guys think of the Lansky sharpening thing. . Should i pick one up or should i spring for a better system e.g. A wicked edge or edge pro etc...

Thoughts? My sharpmaker just isnt getting the consistency to reprofile edges..

I was curious about the Lansky also. Saw one on the bay and was thinking about picking it up. Thoughts??

I think the 0350KW started off as a vendor exclusive and featured a bead blasted finish. After some point, they changed the 0350KW to a stonewashed finish. Now that the stonewashed 0350 is a cataloged item, I'm guessing vendor exclusivity is a moot point. There was a thread about it a couple of months ago.

Dave's price on it right now (new, non-blem) is the lowest I've seen it (even below most secondary market listings). As for secondary market value, I've seen them sell "LNIB" for ~$20 below retail. (Actual condition of "LNIB" varies wildly based on seller, so you are taking some risk.) I've seen users dip below $100, depending on the condition. The DLC ones tend to go for ~$10-20 less than the stonewashed ones.

The Lansky is probably the best system you can get for under 100 dollars. A lot of people (including myself at one time) use them and get some very nice edges. I would go with the Wicked Edge or Edge Pro though. It's a lot of money to drop on a sharpening system but it's so worth it. You won't know how you got by without it.

When I sharpen I work the burr back and forth between sides as is usual. On the final stone I'll work both sides, then do a couple very light passes on the side I started on to knock the burr off. Then I put it on my strop with 3 micron polishing compound to polish the edge and knock off any burrs that may remain.

When you say the "side you started on", do you mean with that one stone or the side you started on at the very beginning? Just curious.

I just produced my first ever shaving sharp edge, with my Cryo. I am so happy!! I was really worried that I wasn't going to be able to get the burr off, but I chased it from side to side until I had to use a flashlight to see it. Then I just used some very light strokes on the side with the burr and it came off. I can cleanly slice through phone-book paper.
