When you say the "side you started on", do you mean with that one stone or the side you started on at the very beginning? Just curious.

I just produced my first ever shaving sharp edge, with my Cryo. I am so happy!! I was really worried that I wasn't going to be able to get the burr off, but I chased it from side to side until I had to use a flashlight to see it. Then I just used some very light strokes on the side with the burr and it came off. I can cleanly slice through phone-book paper.

I start on the same side each time with each stone. I'll raise a burr on side A and go to side B, then start over with the next stone on side A again. With the final stone, I'll start on A then B, then do the couple light passes on A.

I usually wash them with water and a quick scrub with a old tooth brush (or a family members)

Done cleaning my stones. An old toothbrush and some water works pretty well.

I use that stuff for everything! Pretty sure it's less than $2 a can too.

Ah it doesn't matter I've been puting off de-assisting it for awhile....why? Because I got it used and the genius I got it from used a lot of lock tight....and I striped the pivot.

But I'm gonna try and make this work! I'll be back momentarily.

The pivot is fully stripped and lock tight'd.....sooo this ones getting retired, it gave me a good 2 years of use before it quit, so I'd say $17 well spent...the part that really kills me is I spent almost an hour sharpening it last night *sigh*

You could always try to heat up the Loctite and remove it that way.

It's not worth the trouble....and the screw is striped.
