Is anyone else sick of D2? It's definitely a great steel but it gets boring after awhile and a bunch of knives I want use it. It seems like S30v, 154cm and D2 are the most used steels out there today which is fine but you would think more manufacturers would venture into different/more advanced steels. I don't know.
*Sigh* that hurt me to read...why? Because I'm sick of all three haha (all my good knives use those steels) I'm thinking about picking up some of the smaller spydercos in more exotic (ish) steels. Maybe a dragonfly in ZDP-189 and a pingo in N690CO...
Um, you guys are buying the wrong knives? I don't have any d2 knives, only one 154cm knife, and only 1, or 2 s30v knives. Get some m4, vanax75. And some bg42, or what's on the 0600.
I know it's not on every knife out there. The only D2 knives I have ATM are the ones I made. I just get sort of disappointed when a really cool design comes out and it's in D2. The Brous Division flipper and Reloader are perfect examples of this.
The 0600 uses B75P BTW.
Right? They're all great performing steels but it wouldn't hurt to mix it up a little bit with some others. ZDP-189 is pretty damn awesome. I used to have a Caly 3.5 in ZDP and it cut like a mother. I haven't tried N690Co yet but I've heard pretty good things about it and since the Pingo only like 45 bucks, I'd say that's a hell of a deal. anything's better than 8cr13mov:barf:
Definitely. I've re-profiled my griptilian and my JYD in the past two days and what a PITA. the JYD takes awhile but holds the edge great, I'm having some troubles with 154-CM *sigh* it's feels softover all I actually enjoy sharpening S30V though...oh and Mark, I do want to get a benchmade contego so I can try out some (CPM?) M4.
