I got mine at Blade but once Rick engraved it, my desire to use it as a beater (my initial reason for buying it) went away immediately. A shame it'll be discontinued but that means I'll just have to get another before it is. I really wanted a 551 to try out Elmax but I ended up getting a 561 2 weeks after Blade.

Missed the first run of the 801... really upset that I did. Waiting anxiously for the second batch to ship out. Maybe I'll just steal sticky's next time I'm over at his place.

I couldn't bring myself to use anything signed by Rick. It would sit in my Pelican Case.

Now that I have this 0551, I'm having the desire to pick up another ZT. Maybe a 0200. Seeing how big the 0551 is (at least to me), I want to try something bigger.

I already know that I'm going to get some wood scales done to the 0551. I've got the guys "Ok" and everything. Just gotta get the money once corn detasseling starts.

Oh they sold all right and quite well. We can't really question KAI's decision to discontinue them but profitability is likely part of the equation in making that decision. Believe me they know what they are doing.

Your right about them being awesome.
 
Here you go greeenie, got another Shun to go with the Taiyo so I had to get it out for a comparison. I'll use the 10th anniversary knife but at this time I can't bring myself to use the Taiyo.

They are so reflective it makes photographing very difficult. Hats off to kneedeep for his skills and capturing the beauty of the Taiyo!
