Order of KAI Official Hang Out; Part Deux - It's Enrico Palazzo!

I like the weekend.

Me too. And this weekend means Gun and Knife show. Woo! See you gents later! Gonna pack up all my blades and see if there's any REAL knife enthusiasts. Hopefully there's not only the $20 off-brand knives there. I'm counting on scoring! Wish me luck. Peace

Ok, so my brother lied to me. The college doesn't have a Japanese course, BUT it does have a Mandarin course. As far as I'm concerned Mandarin is still a better option for me, than Spanish. Learning Mandarin will make learning Japanese down the road easier anyways.

Here's a sad song in Chinese. I can't understand it, but I can tell it's sad.

My grandmother is full Japanese and from there, if I can someday find a good picture I will share it. Kudos on wanting to learn Japanese

I wanna do something different with my life. I don't want to do the usual thing of taking Spanish, just for the grade and forgetting it once I graduate. I want to take a class I'll enjoy, and remember it for my life. I also want to visit Japan, and China when I can.

If you think leaning Mandarin is going to help you learn Japanese...you'll be unpleasantly surprised. Learning Mandarin is hard enough, harder than Cantonese. Japanese is a very different language, so don't let the fact that it's also an Oriental language fool you. That's like learning Italian and thinking it'll help you learn Portuguese. Not very likely.

Personally, I love Spanish. I used to speak it very well, but not from taking it in high school. I learned it working in McDonalds for two and a half years and a supermarket for one and a half years. Unfortunately I lost it after I got to college and started learning English literature pretty hardcore. I'll likely take up Italian in the near future, I've always loved that language.

I know it's not the same language, and I know learning Mandarin won't make learning Japanese a walk on the park, but it'll definitely help.

Sticky has cancelled his Rosetta Stone course in Spanish because now he has me :)

Oh yeah, and Chinese and Japanese share many characters, and the characters meaning. It also shares some pronunciations.
So it'll definitely help in one way or another.

Haha.

Stick, did you see my flashlight post a page back?

Yeah, those Oveready lights are crazy. I'm actually surprised to see them in stock. They're damn near custom light level from what I've seen of them. I'd love to have one of those suckers...but they don't have the triple Nichia 219 emitter option... Although a neutral XP-G2 would be cool. I'd like to try a triple emitter setup like that.

I can hardly believe 1600 lumens from a 3" flashlight. What battery are those guys running on?

I believe someone out here was looking for a Jeep Leek. There is one in the for sale forums.

Wow, I have some unsupportive bothers. They're trying to discurage me taking Mandarin.
Well screw them :) They haven't done anything in their life that was challenging. I'm so unlike them, I actually want to challenge myself.

Ugh stick I watched 3:30 of that vid and had to shut it off. I can't believe that dirtbag would advocate supporting Chinese knockoffs right after admitting they are simply stealing from Rick Hinderer. Can someone explain to me again why he is always getting sent limited editions and cool new products to review?

Sorry had to throw this in, lol anyone foolish enough to say one of those cheap knockoffs is actually a quality blade and a direct competitor to a 056x model needs to be instabanned from every knife forum on the web. Funny since I remember him raving about the mighty 0560 and saying respect to anyone carrying one.

because he has a massive "fan" base that all love gear and knives, and it would be a great way to get free advertising. As stupid, and infuriating as it is, its a smart move on a marketing stand point.

but its not worth talking about him again, it's just gunna get errybody worked up :) instead lets talk about how awesome dave is, or other people who actually appreciate quality knives for what they are, and not what they could be ripped off to be.
