Heya,

New guy here. I just ordered a knife/dagger from www.martialartsgear.com, I don't know much about these things. I ordered the knife last wednesday and I got the order confirmation. I haven't heard from them since. I don't know if thats normal. I tried to mail other sites about this knife. And they all said they'd answer inside a few hours or a day at worst. Thats a couple of weeks ago now. The only site that replied was one that didn't have the knife anyway.

So that has me a bit worried now. Does anyone have any experience with www.martialartsgear.com and ordering from them? I wrote them a mail friday evening, so I shouldn't expect an answer earlier than monday. But it would still be nice to hear from someone with experience from this page.

That page didn't look very good to me. Wouldn't use them. Wouldn't want a $20 "sword" either. Best of luck though...

Daqar and picklockhunter, welcome to Bladeforums!

I'm sorry about what looks like a bad deal, but don't lose hope. Some less-relaiable dealers are just slow and uncommunicative.

One way to avoid the hassle is to ask here first, on our FEEDBACK forum. Our membership has had a lot of cumulative experience with many dealers, and will suggest the good ones.

(I moved this here from the General Knife Discussion.)

Then maybe someone can point me in the direction of where I can purchase a Gil Hibben Dragon Lord knife? Preferably with stand but its not crucial. They need to ship world wide since I live in Denmark, and it will be nice if they accept visa. I don't know if thats too much to ask at the same time. There are a couple on ebay. I got half a mind to try out one of those. But I already got an order confirmation from that martialartsgear-site. So I already put in my credit card info. They haven't taken any money, but I have no intention of buying two of these knives.

Ok, now I'm kinda freaking out...They've deducted the money from my account, but haven't replied to my e-mail. Hopefully everything is alright, in fact I think it is. But I'm kinda nervous. This is unexpected to me in the wrong way. I don't wish to terminate the purchase if everything is alright. I was wondering if anyone here can help me out a bit. I don't know how yet.

I have considered talking to them. But I live in Denmark aside from a time difference I (I could possibly figure that out) the call will be very expensive. But I have thought about it. Maybe I should do that.

I've found two of this knife on ebay, that are relevant to me, and I'm keeping a close eye on those.

The Dragon Lord is one of the few fantasy knives that I ever liked. I could see a viking from Denmark carrying one! :D

You're going on about a week now since ordering. Evidently they did NOT charge your card when the order came in, they charged it later. If they charged it later because that's when they shipped the knife, your worries may soon be over.

Of course, better communication would be helpful, since the wait for overseas shipping is still worrisome. But remember that many small dealers do this in their spare time. Getting orders, getting the money straight, packing & shipping the orders ... it all takes time. They get to a point when success overwhelms them, and leaves little or no time for email contact, even though they may be getting those orders out pretty fast.

Give it at least another week. If you have reason to worry then, you still have time to dispute charges on your credit card.

I'm glad to hear you say that!
I'm pretty sure everything is alright, but I've never traded overseas before unless it was amazon.com. And all other companies I've dealt with have been danish so I knew my rights as a danish citizen. But I've never tried to order a knife before over the internet, neither have I tried to buy one in a shop. So I just don't know what to expect. I'll just wait a week to 10 days more and see what happens.

I got the knife today!! :D There was a letter for me when I got home from university. It stated there was a package from the USA for me. I went to pick it up immediately. I haven't received a reply to my email enquiery yet, but at the moment, that is of little concern! I'm going to write them again and tell them the knife is here and in perfect condition.

So I guess www.martialartsgear.com is a bit uncommunicative, but otherwise they seem to have good service. I ordered the knife last Wednesday and its already here. Wow....

This is doubly good news, that your worrying is over, and that we have reason to trust the dealer. I think it really was that they are a small operation, and neglect only the communications, not the business itself.
