Howdy all, I'm new to fiddleback and just ordered a recluse from the fleabay and got a decent deal. The shop I bought it from has good return policy and great reviews so I'm not super worried... But was curious as the tip of the knife (seller says it's new and unused) seems to have a slight drop... Is this normal or is there a line of recluses that has this feature?

Pretty stoked to try it out... Have several Bark Rivers and LT Wright blades and am excited to join the FF family :-)

First off!! Welcome to the Fiddleback Fiddleback Forge Family!! I will warn you, once you've been bitten by Andy's Fiddleback there's no turning back!! LOL :D

As far as the recluse, I've not seen that little drop in the tip of a recluse ever. There is a good chance Bmurray Bmurray had this knife and broke the tip. OH NO!!! Just kidding Bob!!
Seriously though, it looks unusual to me but maybe Andy had a one off he did that to. What is the blade length on this from handle to tip?

There are tons of guys on here that have a lot of history with Fiddlebacks and you may get several opinions.

EDIT: check this link out of Fiddleback Forge specs and pics of knives

That's a super helpful list and I had been looking for something like that... thank you so much!

Yea... I'm slightly worried it was a broken tip at one time... the seller claimed he thought it was factory and he hadn't used it... but I think he bought it used so who knows... the shop has a 30 day return window... if it looks like it was a hack job or had been broken I may send it back... we will see how she looks... either way, glad to be getting into the fiddleback family!

Welcome to the family. A brief disclaimer: it’s not our fault if you start buying knives once a week and at the end of a year you’ve realized you’ve been bitten by the bug! Just kidding!! Whether or not your Recluse had the tip broken ( Bmurray Bmurray ) or not when you get it in hand take pictures and send them to VANCE VANCE . Likely he’s busy but he’ll probably be able to tell you more information. There’s also the Spa Treatment at Fiddleback Fiddleback as well. Sounds like you’ve got a unique one!

rileybassman1 rileybassman1 you'll want to sign up on the fiddleback forge website to get newsletters and first opportunities to new Fiddleback Knives on a weekly basis. Also watch for special group buys that VANCE VANCE does on occasion. Oh yeah! you'll meet a lot of great people and make many new friends but we are not always going to be a good influence!!! LOL :D:D:D

Wow - thank you so much sir... that is a very generous offer and I appreciate it!

I will see how I like it - I am slightly OCD so I may very well take you up on your offer if I feel like it is something that may bug me long term.

Again, thank you for your generosity!

Welcome. You made a great choice. Anytime anything bothers you about a Fiddleback Forge knife you can get a label from us to send it back and choose a refund, replacement or repair. There is no risk in buying a Fiddleback.

Glad to have you aboard.

Thank you so much! I've been blown away by the hospitality and generosity of this sub forum/company/members... you are winning a new life customer based off of service alone... and I haven't even held it yet lol.

Thank you again - pics to come... I use my knives... if I keep a knife, it will get put into rotation... from simple bushcraft chores to cleaning elk, deer, bears, and antelope... I'm looking forward to using your knives!

So.... I got bit by the fiddleback... Bad.... Sold several more knives and now have a red Hunter headed my way too lol

Major shout out to Peter - aka prom52

He has been super helpful and kind getting me going on this adventure with fiddlebacks... So much so he walked me through maybe 6-8 different models from his collection with their strengths etc... And told me to pick out one if I wanted it and he'd sell it to me... I was floored... I had asked a random question about a blade I didn't even buy.... And he went out of his way to help me find one of my grail blades. Thanks Peter - these guys should give you commissions on all future purchases lol.

You are good people... And I'm stoked to be joining the party! Pics will be going up next week with some beauty shots... With my first... And second... Fiddleback lol.

Will someone please point me to the fiddlebacks anonymous counsel center???

It's always fun to talk knives, especially Fiddlebacks. I think all of us can harken back to when we first discovered Andy's knives and acquired our first Fiddelback. It was fun to re-experience the thrill of Dean's excitement in acquiring his first knife from the Forge. Since my personal collection has grown somewhat over the years, and in many cases I have duplicates of my favorite models, I was more than willing to offer him the opportunity to scratch the itch after his first spider bite.

BTW, over the course of several PM's it became very apparent to me that Dean is "good people" as well. We're fortunate that he found our little family. I expect that we can all look forward to seeing his future posts including photos of his knives being put to good use harvesting game where the deer, antelope, & elk roam free.

Now, about those commissions......ha,ha,ha !
