No, the smell of a GEC is part of the allureThis BF2023 34 made it across the Atlantic to the Netherlands (thanks JM and Spark)! I am really pleased with it; it's an excellent knife. I was hoping not too light and not too dark, and this one hits it perfectly. Zero gaps anywhere. The pull on the Wharncliffe is a perfect 5.5 and the pen is maybe a 6 or 6.5. If I wanted to nitpick, the spring is very slightly proud when the main is at the half-stop, but flush fully open or closed and the secondary is flush in all three positions. Also, the main comes pretty close to the liner, but doesn't rub.
I was a bit surprised at the size. I thought it would be similar to my 68 White Owl, but a little longer. In reality, it is a considerably chunkier knife. It's still a very nice size for carry, though.
Here is a crappy photo (it is dark, raining to boot, and, given my wife's preference for "subtle lighting", the only place I could take a pic is in the glaringly bright kitchen). Also, am I strange, or is the smell of a new GEC amazing?

Every time I get a new one, the smell out of the tube just grabs me. I don't wash my hands after the initial handling and find myself sniffing my fingers like a teenager who just, well, you know...No, the smell of a GEC is part of the allureThe Scent of Traditional

555 was the car number for Subaru in the World Rally Championship. I loved watching those races.surprised to see it's already listed. but for someone who really want that number, the price is not that bad.
