Some discussion on that site madmanus. Added a few things to think out.

Bladite, good call. I go everywhere with ear pro now- anytime I travel, for instance, I have a pair in my pocket.

Cholula's pretty decent, though of course not spicy. Ring of fire looks good. I'll have to try some sometime. :)

Thanks, Danny. Good advice.

Well, as long as we've dropped into hot sauces; John, the Marie Sharps Habenero you gave me is excellent. It imparts flavor to food and not just heat.

Hey John, if you do end up heading out to the desert, look me up when you get here. I should still be out.

Take care of yourself buddy.

Some habaneros are too hot.

Isn't it wonderful that God and Nature provide us with plants this tasty and exiciting? A defense adaptation becomes just the thing to pull all the flavors of a meal together. What is too hot for a bird to eat is just fine for madmen with khukuris.

Hi John,

I'm sure I am duplicating what many have said but ask and you shall receive. There is not enough we can do as a country for young men such as yourself.

I just sent my "adopted" Marine a Sgt. Khadka balance with the HI and Blackhawk sheath along with a combat vest, holsters, NYPD hats, pillow and oh yeah a bunch of toys for the Iraqi kids.

Now this doesn't mean you can go and ask me for bass boat or stuff like that lol but seriously your one of our own. God's speed, stay safe and come home soon.

Thank you for your service!

Billy

John,

I am sorry your plans were not fully to be realized. Yet.

Glad you got to this point!:)

You've just gone back up to the high end of the list!

Sometimes I wish I was young enough and detatched enough to volunteer again.

I kind of like the desert, actually.

Poly sock liners and glove liners really help in the cold. Thin glove liners work better than the issue stuff, much thinner, better dexterity when you have to slip off the shells to do fine motor skill stuff. hands still stay decently warm for a while too.

A bit slippery though, not bad, but if you can find some with a bit of rubber in spots on them, so much the better.

My heart is a bit heavy, and my eyes just a tad blurry at the moment.

very proud to know you sir.

Tom

ps If you have anything that could use a bit of engraving, get it to me right quick. It would be an honor for me.

It always floors me how they will let you drop shells down a tube, handle machine guns, or blow stuff up,but you can't report with your own knife!!

John,

Wow, what news. I'm not suprised. You will be in my prayers. You've been well trained in arts that prepare you to make it into and out of this, now it's time to trust yourself and listen. Not just with your ears. May the Great Spirit be with you.

Best of luck John. I was hoping to see you at Blade again this year ... I still owe you a beer. Guess it will have to wait for 18 months or so.

Keep us posted of any changes, or if you need anything. And remember to duck while you're over there.

Ken, I and a couple friends are planning on canoeing down a river in Alaska in Spring or Summer 2008. Maybe you (and others here? I just know you seem more mobile than some) could get in on the action...

John,

You know you can get what you need through any of us here. We are all very proud of you, and wish you the best. You represent all that is good about this place, and we're behind you 100%. I hope to hear from you when you get there so we can send you little bits of this or that. I'm sure it would cheer you to hear from your friends. Watcherass.

Andy

If any of your supplies dwindle just say the word and more will arrive.

^^^Everything he said.:D

I just noticed that I could get Marie Sharps (two styles: XXXX and one other) locally: I'd always brought bottles back with me from Belize and hoarded them.
Then again I recently saw Belikin Beer for sale here in SoCal, too, so I guess they've kicked their exporting up a notch in Belize!

Be well and good luck to you.:)

P.S. Do you know the whole "Melinda's vs. Marie Sharps" history?
