The large "Original" Sebenza was produced from 1991 till 1996. When they started making them, they were marked with a "P" for "production", in order to separate them from the first H-Sebenza ("handmade") and they also added a number next to the "P". After a few hundred knives they stopped the number and continued with the "P" only. After an additional while they also stopped milling the "P" at the scale.
Means you will find Original Sebenza with
"P" and number
"P" only
Neither "P" nor number
There are no exact numbers and dates. I don't remember having seen a numbered "P" above 400. My feeling is that they stopped numbering somwhere in between 300 and 400. But others here may correct me. Also I do not know their annual output in these early years. Considering that mine is numbered 131 and that they started in 1991, maybe mine was made in 1992 or 1993.
