Hi guys! I was fortunate to be able to purchase Chris' Recon in TS Kevlar recently, & just wanted to publically say thanks again...the knife is just perfection. I'm having a leather sheath made for her now as her guard is a bit too wide for anything I've got on hand.

The fit & finish is 11/10. The flat grind & tapered tang give this big knife a balance & athleticism usually reserved for much smaller blades. I'm really impressed with the taper too, it's one of those tapers that's much thinner at the end than I was expecting...I'm a huge tapered tang fan. The handle contouring melts into my hand, which I expected from owning a Hunter by Chris. The handle really is special. It's angle allows for extremely easy flicks of the wrist to send the blade into chop-mode with crazy ease...this thing is "designed". And that sounds odd, but what I'm trying to convey is that Chris obviously designed this knife with purpose, to perform tasks from cutting to chopping with the most efficiency he could humanly squeeze into the 11 3/4". This is my do it all knife. I've owned several knives with TS Kevlar scales, & this is by far the best finish of the 3 or 4 I've owned. The material will always send some of the brass wires beyond the surface, but Chris must have spent a lot of time buffing out the problem children...these scales are very smooth & I've yet to feel a single wire tip. The large NM pins look great, as do the liners, but it's the red pinstripe that sets the entire handle off aesthetically, & prevents it from ever being boring to look at.

This is the only recurve blade in my collection, as I thought I didn't like them, but man, I love this one! And perhaps the single "best" aspect of this knife is the new & improved finish Chris smacks onto the flats. I'm not sure how he does it, but it looks violent & freaking awesome. I imagine he's found an incredibly skilled little toddler who karate chops these marks into the flats for him. The balance is dead on. It's one of those knives that balances immediately & stays there with zero wobble, even if you move your hand...once your finger is on the balance point - the ricasso on this knife, it just lays flat & still, more evidence of a purposefully built knife.

So ya, I'm having a beautiful two toned & tooled leather sheath built now, my guy says I'll have it in just a few days, so by next week I'll be able to open carry this bad boy into my local grocery store and sliz-ice a watermelon in half, should the need arise.

Here's the Recon, & a pic of my Hunter since I mentioned her too!

Man your posts and comments always crack me up. I am happy to have gotten this knife in your hands it sounds like you will give it some purpose, thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions. It is very satisfying when a customer picks up my work an Immediately can feel the intent, time and effort put behind the Blade from Design to Fit and Finish. For me that lets me know I did my job right. When you get your pants for that piece share some pictures with us.

Excellent knives as usual from Chris. The recon is phenomenal!!

:thumbup:Nice score! Congrats.

I haven't forgotten about this. I just got a large order of Steel in and have been Swamped lately. I will be profiling out All of the models in my line up over the next few weeks for Blade Show. I will be posting up pictures of them side by side during different phases of completion as a visual reference as well as providing measurements.

Heck yeah! I can't wait to get my first OKT blade. Can't wait to get my second either!

Well this looks like it will be a lot of fun to play with :)

That's a cool Apache Brian! Is that Lightning strike Carbon Fiber or G10? Either way it looks great, and the orange pinstripes really pop!:cool:

Thanks Gus! I think it's micarta but maybe G10, definitely not CF though. The orange really does pop! I have already talked to Chris about one with a swedge and some config with the Tequila Sunrise burlap for later on this summer :)
