OT American Civilian Beheaded in Iraq

I just saw the video on TVE (Spanish Television News)… I felt awful and heartbroken. For me this is another reminder of the atrocities mankind is capable to do to one another. :(
 
Our congressmen are probably getting a commitee together to apologize for causing them to commit such a heinous act.. :( :( :( :barf: :barf:
 
I still believe we are bound by a different code of conduct than our enemies. However, I don't think that a good coat of pig fat on every soldier's bullets would violate the Geneva Conventions.

The murder of Nick Berg was done before the current prison scandal. (edit-correction- found out it was done Saturday- )The murder was done by Al Queda, our terrorist enemy, who we are not trying to win over. These are people who blow up a nightclub in Indonesia- why? What had that to do with the US policy in the Middle East? These are the people who flew planes into the WTC. Dave Berg was a civilian. He was not beheaded in the sense a gullotine blade took his life- the Al Queda crew SAWED his head off, and it took a little time.

This is the enemy. We don't want to win them over. They wish to establish a radical Isalmic world. They are not rational.

I guess I'm not a very good Buddist because I'm sure not feeling any love for our enemies right now.
 
You're just a normal rational human Uncle Bill; if God expects perfection none of us are getting to heaven. Seeing this kind of stuff makes me think even more seriously of getting into a combat MOS. I would love to put a full belt from an M2 into one of these whackos. :mad:

Daniel Pearl was done a long time ago relatively. I guess his killing shocked everybody so much that they decided to adopt that style in the future.

If I wasn't in the military there's no way in hell I'd go over there no matter how much $$ they paid me.

Al Queda isn't new- perhaps just the name. They are the current formation of Wahhabi Islam, a sect despised and hated by other Moslems for over a hundred years. They've been blowing up and executing other Moslems for a long time. Even if they 'won', they would lose- for most Moslems would erradicate them off the face of the planet once the evil US was out of the picture.

So anyway- Daniel Pearl's execution was not novel for this group. This is bread and butter to them. It would be almost impossible to determine cause and effect. They are insane. I suppose it would be as if the guy who bombed the abortion clinics in the US, the one calling himself a Christian, had a vast militant organization set upon reestablishing an Old Testament vision upon the world. In other words, this is Cloning Hitler's Brain sort of stuff. It doesn't matter what we do- they are going to kill people.

Hollow- are you still in the military? I didn't undestand what you meant- edit- oh, I see- a civilian contractor going over. If I was young and unmarried I sure would . Lot's of money.

Compare all the noise, the media attention and the international moralizing and marches that these acts of unspeakable evil and barbarism attract with the outcry about the Iraqi prisoners.

The atrocities of the islmicists will be forgotten, minimized or excused, but the Americans will be portrayed as as bad, or worse. The new Nazis!

But the Arabs will be virtually excused.

Why do you think that is?
 
1. Because the leader is always undermined
2. Because moral relativism is the current intellectual and cultural plaything sweeping the world.
3. Because America defines western society, and a rule of decay/decline for civilization has always been self hatred. Our Western critics hate themselves too, but it's much easier to pin the US.
4. The poor hate the wealthy

I feel ya uncle
I wouldn't put a rat down that way,
but the Apache in me wants 3 hours in a locked room with each of them.
the buddhist wants to forgive but the nashing of teeth is drowning that out
