OT It shall come about! HOPE NOT

MR Check Whacko is indicating he could not pass an FBI background check. You can't have committed a dangerous crime, or be mentally impaired.

Chechacko, I think I sorta agree with you politically, but i can't really tell. Your post was sort of confusing. And I don't think the American public is as arrogant as you see it. If anything, we pride ourselves on our ability to criticize the establishment. Canada's got issues, too, man. Let's not point too many international fingers.

Nam,
The tone of Chech was hostile, angry, belittling, and showed arrogance and contempt. It also begged for a fight. The post was uninterested in comunication and dehumanized those here.

He will now have to establish whether or not he is a human being deserving of the respect we show each here, and has started on the wrong foot.

Usually, every newcomer is welcomed with open arms.

It is up to Chech to earn trust now.

Bill Marsh: a Chicago overcoat is being prepared just in case you are right. Can Someone give me directions to the Marriannas trench?

Oh so he's impersonating Canadians now???

This is an interesting debate, very well done however. We are facing the issue of Gay marriage in Canada right now and the current gov't is trying to pass legislation through.

Regardless of what i think, this is democracy in action. different groups wrestling with social issues but nonetheless... are free to express their opinions.

majority rules. now that fact may scare some, but the "majority" has ever rarely remain static. society is constantly evolving and changing. maybe for better... or maybe for worse, depends on what view you want to take. degradation of social morality or social evolution?

luckily there will be an answer! i just have to wait a generation when my future kid asks me if it was really true when i was a kid that gays were not allowed to marry OR what started the exodus from North America to foreign countries.

now that would be a sight. East Indians complaining about how all those immigrants from North America are talking all the jobs! ;)

On another thread, regarding the opium traffic and crop in Afgan, I said, "People will get what they want."

I thought about this thread. States are passing man and woman only marriage laws, but the Gay Marriage Movement seems to be gathering steam, as the 'right thing, fair thing to do"

I don't know if that prevails or not. Or if society suffers. But people will get what they want.

They want to legalize pot, and some day they will get it.

I'd like tort reform. Anyone with me?

Dave Hahn; it is going to be a kick to see which way we go.

yep, it's gonna be fascinating. unfortunately, will my 90's morality be at odds with 2040's morality? i know some people who loved the 50's, irkin' at 21st century morality.

the legalization of pot. gay marriages. international citizenship...? whew. these are subjects that only democracy can handle and when society is ready to handle.

personally, i think the "golden rule" is one morality that should never change and can be applied to most if not all situations. and that is one issue where i stand firm, stubborn, and pig headed.

-D

p.s Munk, you've got quite the writing talent! share it with the world dammit.

Most of those things I don't get to vote on. A lot of those decisions are being made by appointed supreme court judges and appointed UN folk.

Well, Bruise, the UN is not yet our Master, and we do get to vote on the people who appoint judges.

Some things come without us, and some things we can affect. I don't believe Gay marriage is going to be decided by the State's laws now, or whatever munk's opinion is today either. There are big Winds and you've heard about pissing against them.

In a way, it takes the onus off our shoulders. I didn't design this place, this was how I found it when I got here. Or, as Howard the Duck says, "Trapped in a World I never made."
