OT: Martial Arts, what do YOU practice?

Yvsa, good eye, and you're right they do retract. These boys are wheels down 'cause they're lined up at the "flying gas station". Tanker boom operator snapped the pic.

Thanks Sarge!!!!
This is an amazing pic!!!! Does lowering the wheels slow the A-10's down a bit so they can match speeds easier?

Here's one that's definitely wheels up. Oops, did I cut off the tail number and station designator? My bad;)

Yvsa, I'm not sure why they go wheels down during refueling, I'll go grab one of our aviator types and find out.

Sarge, is that nose armament a GE mini-gun (if those are even used anymore. I'm dating myself)?

Maui a reason that shotokan or other striking arts can lead to arthritis is because of the bone conditioning. Happens alot to boxers. Anyways hitting something (like a punching bag or thai pads in Muay thai) repeatedly over time causes the bone to fuse together and become harder/stronger. However, not many people are meant to have all the bones in thier hands fuse together, hence the arthritis pains. Now, if your class doesnt do any pad work, bag work, light sparring, or any other conditioning type work then no worries, but I would question the quality of the school. Anyways thats the sacrifice one makes if one wants shins like baseball bats, and fists like sledges. Though if you aint gonna use em, my question is why do you need em, especially if you job revolves around a desk?  :p

disclaimer: the last sentence refers to no-one specifically in this thread. It was only Fred's bad attempt at humor.

Although I've never been attacked by a desk, it is sometimes neccesary to intimidate the guy in the next cubicle. :D

One of the benefits of having an Martial Arts instructor who is also an eastern medicine doctor. Herbal Medicines are integrated into the style to augment long term development of mind and body and to relieve training stress and damage done to the body.

Unfortunately, good schools like these are few and far between. As the last generation of MA instructors pass on, there is even fewer teachers with this level of knowledge and skill.

Sarge I noticed the landing gear(?) is down on these. Is this normal or do they retract like on other aircraft?
Yvsa,
I used to see the A-10 up close when we deployed to Nellis AFB.
The main landing gear doesn't retract all the way into it's pod under the wing. I was told this was to facilitate emergency "wheels-up" landings. You can see it pretty good here.
Regards,
Greg
