So I've been very faithful to Rock River Arms but I'm thinking about straying away and going LMT or Danial Defense. The LMT I've been eyeing is the defender 2000 and Daniel defense I've got no clue which model if any I like cuz I just haven't handled many. im also not opposed to H&k or Barrett I'm just not sure what I can get one for. I want nothing over a 16in barrel! So thanks in advance guys.

I like the Ruger's myself...SR.556 and the SR7.62 are on my short list.

On the cheap the S&W MP15 is a solid performer.

If I build my own it will be a sbr with suppressor....lol. Honestly I'd rather just grab something that's ready to go with a warranty than build one and I haven't really kept up on who's making quality parts and who's making junk.

I've heard of them but know nothing about them. I'll definitely give them a look. I appreciate it thanks.

I'm in the build your own camp. I have been into ARs for 12 years and with the exception of the first one I have built them. Never any major problems that would require warranty work and for the same or less money you can get exactly what you want. In your urban setting you may want to check out a Tavor or Aug if you just want something new and cool off the shelf. But if you want anew AR off the shelf it's hard to beat BCM for the money

So far I'm starting to dig the REC7 but the price has to be right. The LMT I can grab at a okay price and dump money into mags, ammo, sling ect and with the REC7 I'd have to wait a month maybe 2 to get her set up.

I personally like the REC7 but I also have an interest in trying out the PWS. If you are looking for a slightly more affordable piston option try the SIG 516. If you are thinking gas impingment, I would say BCM is a great value and Daniel Defense is another strong quality option as well. They are all good that you mentioned. Cant forget about LWRC or POF either.

What do you want to do with the AR?

There are so many AR makers out there now I can't keep up.

I prefer building my own and having exactly what I want.

Build your lower because that Crap don't break and order a complete upper from hardened arms or Karris gun works. Best prices and the upper will be lifetime warranty. I've owned over 10 of these and never had a bit of trouble. Plus if you ever do you just send the upper, no ffl necessary on either side because of the lack of lower.

Here is my pistol ar with 7.5" 1 in 7 barrel, bath salt nitride coated and np3'd bcg, 45° return iron sights, aimpoint micro t-1 2moa version. Streamlight MX6 tactical light and laser, 3lb single stage jp enterprises trigger, 10" quad rail with hidden noveske pig muzzle break. The barrel is actually inside of the quad rail, even has a quad rail cap. Two 40 rounds magpul gen 3s coupled so 80 rounds later I need to reload

If I could make another suggestion. Build one of these if you want a death machine.

It's a juggernaut rogue m1a bull pup .308

Buy the time you invest in a Barrett, or LWRC, you could invest in a FNH Scar in 308, Used one many years ago when I was deployed, and am in the process of buying one, I have 2 Colt M4's which I love the SCAR is in a different League, to have 20 rounds of 308 at the ready is great, just my 2 cents worth!

I have 20 rounds of .308 at the ready also...cant beat it!

BCM. Get a complete "blemished" lower from G&R tactical then get a complete upper from BCM in what ever flavor you want. There are reports of there rifles running over 40k rounds without cleaning and normal replacement of springs etc. They are great guns. I'd put them against anybody.

I really like my DD M4A1 its a 14.5" barrel but the cage adds the 1.5" to be legal in the states. Its my go to for anything and everything.

Go with a piston driven setup, its worth the extra coin. Check out the faxon ARAK. It comes in multiple calibers and mounts to any ar15 based lower

Or maybe just go with something different for a change like scar or a bullpup like the tavor or rfb?

Lately I've been shooting more with the 7.62s myself and am close to ordering an ARAK upper in 7.62x39 to put on my noveske lower http://faxonfirearms.com/arak-21-upper-receiver/

If you shoot alot like I do 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 is wayyy cheaper than 223 and 556 for either shooting or stockpile.

223 however is cheaper "if you reload" but all the good to decent gun powders have been near impossible to find for years now. Sometimes they will show up online here and there every once in awhile in small batches but you have to figure in hazmat and shipping into your price per round.
