OT: PCs, Gaming, Gamers

Jotto,
I always used mouse/keyboard for the Jedi Knight games, controllers are just too jumpy. Unless, of course, you're talking about PS2/X-Box vs. computer, in which case this can't help you. :D

My favourite game of all time: Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms (ROTK). Still have version 3 on my PC. Sparked my interest in ancient history when I followed up by reading the book, then read the other Chinese literary classic: Water Margins (Shui Hu Shuan).
Cool, I played through ROTK2 a few times but never tried 3 or 4. I never had much patience for diplomacy or domestic issues, so I'd team up with my sister who'd do the 'housekeeping' while I went to war :D.

I've been told that Baldur's Gate is a good one for "my type"...but I'm quite reluctant to pick it up.....any suggestions, guys?
I have BG 1&2 and both expansions. Definitely my favorite CRPG of all time, though I have yet to try the Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights series. I used to play pencil & paper AD&D, so the BG series was a godsend for me (pun intended). Really good central plots and very rewarding to play through, with a lot of replay value because of all the classes and party combinations to try. You can even import your BG1 character to BG2, since there are a few 'bonuses' in BG1 that you can't get in BG2. Epic stuff, and nowhere as easy or linear as Final Fantasy.

Steel,

I have heard of hotseat multiplayer but this is something new :) But that's how all the games in the series work too - you got the Zhuge Liang type wise generals to supervise the agriculture and development and the Guan Yu type warlords to kick ass and take names...

I bought Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic a couple of months ago - looks and plays so good except for the cursed luck that somehow makes it unable to run on my PC (I tried, I tried, I cried...) I have been contemplating speeding up a long-awaiting upgrade just to play this game. I was 7 years old when I saw Star Wars in the cinemas. Lightsabers, force powers, a cool backstory, and all tantalizingly out of reach for now....

Not much for multiplayer games myself - slow dialup net connections here. What about trying the Final Fantasy series of games? Should be able to find Final Fantasy 7 (FF7) in the PC budget games category as it is several years old. Some of the newer versions (all with different story lines) is available on PC but FF7 is my favourite of the line.

Never heard of Dragon Warriors but I'll check around - If it is that addictive I may need to do some research to satisfy my curiousity.

Some of these sound interesting.....but I'm stickly a lonely player....don't like playing against other people....funny that way.

Also, haven't ever cared for the big strategy/city-building/world/sims/etc games.

Yes, I have strange tastes....perhaps no-one can relate? That's ok, though. Got plenty of other stuff to do....:D
