OT: Philosophy

Jesus...he was a guy. Period. A guy like you. He lived. He toiled. He struggled. He was carpenter. A guy. He knew humanity...becuase he was a part of it. He had compassion because he understood what it was to be a guy.

Ok. He spoke in Big "T's". Period. Some could hear it. Some could not.

As far as the Son of God stuff. I am not here to tell anybody what they should think. I know what is in my heart. As far as what has been attributed to him in the way of his teachings...I think I am not smart enough to understand a lot of it. So I try to hear the Big "T". It is said that Sidharta taught to the masses...and when he spoke he was able to read the people...and taught according to their level of understanding. I htink Christ was like this. I think some of the disciples wer ebetter students...while some were better listeners...some were better remember-ers. That would account for some of the oddities of language and meaning in the Book. Not to mention the translation stuff...

I know Christians are supposed to be more fervent in their witnessing...but I'm not good at it...I will witness for all you good men...and say you are a kind and generous bunch...who try to live copmpassionately...even if you are a bunch a heathens...and pagans... :D

Just so I can live up to my image...I'll be a smarty pants and say...

Jurassic...that wasn't Shakespeare...he stole it from the Greeks...

The runes at Delphi read thusly...

1.) Know thyself.
2.)To thine own self be true.

Good stuff.

I dunno. I know that's what he said in Jesus Christ Superstar: A Rock Opera.

(yeah, I always kinda liked that btw...)

Oops! I have been found out! I LOVED JCSS. I think that the quote forom JCSS still contains the gist of Pilate's words. The music is incredible and I think the plot surprisingly scriptural.

Good job and MUCH better than the "Last Temptation of Christ."

Anyone here read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis?

I do hope that we are still discussing 'philosophy' here. Maybe someone else from a non-Christian religion would like to jump in here. There are similar universal concepts.

Bill,

I had the Lewis book thrust at me by my guy...Father Dave...It is a damn good read...

Fine logic...wonderful insight...Gorgeous!

For any man involved in finding "t"...a must read.

I'm going to give Lewis another look.

C.S. Lewis is really worth reading. "Mere Christianity" is one of my favorites. His logic is inescapable. It is a good, easy and compelling read.

Munk, In respect to the Tarot, I used it to give readings back in the 1970s. I liked the "I Ching" better. The big difference to me was that the Tarot showed a state of being, kind of a snaphot, but did not really offer direction.

You can ask the I Ching what is right action in a particular situation so that you can follow your correct path, or tao.

Like the Tarot, the I Ching is a prop, a tool, sometimes a crutch. A way of reaching. I don't know what it helped access, perhaps my own sub-conscious, perhaps some inner planes "collective unconscious" as Jung called it. Maybe something else. I never felt it was evil, but it was a distraction --- and it creates dependency.

Do these divination methods work? Oh yeah! Often with astounding accuracy. I became almost a celebrity. I worked with an organization of teachers and psychics called "The Foundation of Truth."

I quit using these because they fostered dependency, both from my clients, but also in myself. People would call me at all hours asking me to do readings to tell them what they should do.

So I quit doing public readings and decided just to use these methods for myself.

BUT I used the I Ching for almost every decision even down to the very mundane --- should I get a brown suit or a blue one? And I hate to say this, but sometimes I would ask a question and if I didn't like the answer, I would ask the same question again.

And the I Ching would answer. Four times in a row I got an almost identical answer -- QUIT ABUSING THE ORACLE!

So I quit them. The "Book of Changes" sits in a storage box with the little wooden box containing the Tarot cards and a few other things.

And Munk, like you, I am trying to "go direct" for my answers to right action.

Bill,
A very talented Tarrot card reader did several readings for me. I then confounded her after a Reading by randomly drawing cards of particular interest to my life. It was a game I was playing, but I was 'on', if you can understand me. I've had both visions and prophetic dreams. I've felt the presence of the Great Heart, what Christians call the holy Spirit.

I leave props alone because they frighten me. I think misinformation is so easy to come by. I prefer my food directly from the Maker.

What all of this means is simply beyond me. If I could talk to you face to face there are many questions I might ask.

I might start by asking if anyone here see's the 'dot's? Does anyone see vision organically as say has been exagerated in a Van Gogh painting? Do any of you see the White Light? (as this has been referred to)

Guys,

I quit this stuff years ago...

TOo many open doorways...too many opportunities for unwanted influences.

I am spinning another thread..that relates to fools and truth....
