OT Things We Don't Trust In Each Other

We allow too many filters between ourselves and reality to really understand people, which inhibits the development of trust. I think once we stop looking for examples of goodness in our fellow man on the TV news and go out into the world we'll find there's a lot more if it than we've been conditioned to expect.

Well said. Not to blend threads here, but the news does to us what a cop's job does to him/her: it only shows us the very worst humanity has to offer at the worst time of their lives.

I agree. There is goodness in man. There is Goodness from the Great Heart and man reaches into that.

I don't like it when we get too pesimistic. I'm glad to see this thread expanded upon and rebutted.

I always liked Plato's cave analogy when thinking about reality or what we percieve reality to be.

I sometimes really enjoy being proved wrong on something that I was absolutely convinced I was right about: there's a funny double-edged endorphin rush you get from it. It is unsettling, yet comforting because it affirms to me that life is a mystery and anything is possible. Or maybe it isn't... ;)
