OT: Unsettling Phone Call (update Pg.3)

Wow, still hasn't fully set in...

Got a call a few minutes ago from my primary care doctor's nurse and she said that the neurosurgery department wants to see me... I had an MRI of my brain on Sunday and I have an appointment with the neurologist next Thursday (still haven't seen him or gotten the EEG), but this is something new and of course, since she's just a nurse, she couldn't tell me anything, she said when I go to see them they'll discuss my options.

I really don't want to have brain surgery...

Thanks Pokey, it really does make me feel better that the people here are so caring, we see it all the time :)

I spoke with my dad and he told me not to get upset, that it might just be them covering their bases and the main fact of the matter is there's nothing worrying is going to do about it anyway.

Not knowing sucks :( oh well, I'll treat it like it is my time is short and do what I like best, eat bacon and chop wood :)
 
Well, hopefully if brain surgery is necessary then you will at least have the option. I just found out yesterday that my mother-in-law has an aneurism near her brain stem, no surgeon will take a chance at surgery because of the close proximity to her brain stem. She was lucky to make it to the hospital when she had complications in the past, but we are told that at some point she will not be so lucky. I hope everything turns out OK for you, thoughts and prayers from Colorado.
 
Good luck. Stay positive and try to avoid building scenarios in your head until you know what's actually going on. It might not be anything (or they would have wanted to see you right away).

That just seems wrong. The Doctor in charge should call and at least give you a briefing on the situation, instead of leaving you in the dark... Anyway best of luck,hope it turns out alright for you....
 
Dont worry about it, they can't really discuss anything either positive or negative over the phone.

It could be anything; fusiform aneurysm on a small vessel, etc. I don't want to pry, but how soon did they want to see you? My wife and I wish you all the best, and try to stay relaxed... have a shot or two of scotch!

Prayers sent! For all you know, it's a new area of the brain that is triggered by INFI and dr.'s are just now finding it. Don't think about the what if's or could be's. 90% of the stuff people worry about never comes true. So just go on and end the day and just keep moving till you find out what they want :thumbup:

Hope you get good news. As someone with a small brain lesion, I can tell you they don't always operate (sometimes they can't), so they treat the symptoms. But they aren't allowed to tell you anything over the phone, because some people misunderstand the info and react badly. So it is always in person, in my experience. Best of luck.
 
Smoke and prayers. Who knows? Maybe they saw the outline of a magnum bear cub that you lost while sleeping and are just asking if you want it back... just trying to lighten the mood, in truth I believe that all the positive thoughts people are sending your way will help you, and never worry yourself over something you haven't heard yet!

Yea sometimes the nurse doesn't even know why they want to see you, she's just calling to let you know you have to cone in. Try to take it easy till then. Prayers sent!
