OTOH, drinking isn't so off topic around here....

Anyway, I picked up a bottle of Tito's Handmade. Now I need expert advice on the preferred formulation variables, having not been a Martini drinker before. I had a Dirty (Vodka) Martini once, but they used too much olive juice for my taste, the drink was too salty. I could start by just putting the Tito's bottle in the freezer, and have it that way. But I would like to try some other variants.

Well you are going to need two btls of that stuff and work up your own formula and that goes all the way to the olives.

I make mine this way:

3 oz Vodka

1 - silver spoon full of dry vermouth

1 – sliver spoon of Olive juice.

The spoon was the one I was born with;), it takes three of them to make a measured teaspoon.

Some olives are just too bitter for me and I don’t like the onion filled. Your taste will be different.

What I can’t stand it when they make Vodka Martinis at bars and shake them with ice. It makes the drink taste like water.:grumpy:

I like it straight with a little lime juice, or lime juice and tonic. Vermouth and I don't get along! :D

A girl needs a knife...

Are you.....? VODKA MUST be consumed as it is. Put 2/3cup of cold VODKA in a glass and pick it in right hand. Pick baby dill pickle in your left hand. Drink in one set and have a pickle. Engoy, wait for a few minutes than repeat. You may stop only if there is no VODKA in the bottle, all stores are closed and there is no money. Otherwise continue.

I agree 1,000,000% except for the Olive Juice. I like mine clean!!

The Vermouth bottle should actually just be waved around the vodka with the cap screwed on tightly... ;)

Good start, keep 'em coming.......

Tony, may I assume then, that you keep your vodka chilled, to avoid the dreaded dilution effect?

I keep it in the freezer and I keep everything else in the refrigerator. I’ll also put the glass in the freezer if I know I’m going to have one in an hour or so. And that pretty much means that there is always a glass in my freezer after 5:30.:o

OK...we've got the start of a good knife and drinks combo thread now:

Boy, that SS SFNO is awesome Skunk.

Ahhh! Here is a man who is thinking right!

Vodka is VODKA and Martinis are gin.

I'll try the pickle but like pickled herring with mine. A very interesting cycle develops. Drink vodka. mmm. Pickled herring now looks good. Eat herring. mmm. Must have vodka...

Sit close to freezer with bottle in it.
